    Recall Notice

    Date

    February 3, 2012
    Product Name

    Baby Bibs
    Full Product Description

This voluntary recall involves various models of children's bibs sold under item numbers 19-1900392 and 19-3018618. Each item number corresponds to various styles and colours (see images below).

The front of the bib is made of fabric while the back of the bib has a lining made of soft vinyl. The CA number on the label is 56069.

    Hazard Identified

Health Canada's sampling and evaluation program has revealed that the bibs' lining contains a phthalate, specifically DEHP (Di(2-ethylhexyl) Phthalate), which exceeds the allowable limit.

Studies suggest that certain phthalates, including DEHP, may cause reproductive and developmental abnormalities in young children when soft vinyl products containing phthalates are sucked or chewed for extended periods.

Neither Health Canada nor Dollarama has received any reports of incidents or illnesses related to the use of these bibs.

For more information on the health risks of phthalates exposure, visit Health Canada's: Phthalates Fact Sheet.

    Corrective Action

Consumers should immediately take the recalled bibs away from children and dispose of them.

For more information, consumers may contact Dollarama by telephone at 1-888-755-1006 or by e-mail.

    Number Sold

Approximately 111,000 of the recalled bibs were sold in Canada.
    Time Period Sold

The recalled bibs were sold from July 2011 (item 19-1900392) and August 2011 (item 19-3018618) to January 2012.

    Manufactured in China.

wow! good thing we dont have any of those.

Although we did have the pink one for DD. It made a great eating bib because we never cared how stained it got. Hope the ones from 3 years ago were okay!

Thanks for the heads up! These USED to be my favourite bibs. For me this is just another reason to stay away from their products!

Thank you so much. It is unbelievable how many dangerous items make it onto the market. I was absolutely floored to see how many carseats had high levels of lead & other toxic chemicals in it! Yikes.

I just contacted the Dollar Store to find out why their recalls are never posted in the stores so that parents who might have these products can discontinue using them (bibs, toys, water bottles, etc). The response was that they are not legally obligated to. They gave me the email address of their Risk Manager, Benoit Grenier to contact with concerns ([email protected]). I was not aware of this recall and we still had several of these bibs.
