Actually, I think vinegar is the opposite of a skin irrritant. I remember when I was a teen living in Florida (spending too much time in the sun!), vinegar was something we used regularly on sunburn. I think on jellyfish stings too, it takes the sting out of both.
As for a baby's bum though, I'm not sure! My son has never had a diaper rash, but certainly not from regular vinegar exposure.

My ped said to use tissue (kleenix) and Cetaphil. Wipe with a dry tissue, then put some (tiny drop is all you need) on another kleenix and wipe. It will moisturize as it cleans and will even remove anything that has dried a bit.
He gave me a sample bottle and I just refill it from the big one. You can use any travel size bottle. You really use a teeny, tiny amount.
I'm sure you can use it with cloth wipes too, if you had them and wanted to save even more.

I have a home daycare and I have been making my own wipes since I had started...I use them for runny noses, and all lunch and snack clean up.... They do work great...i use a cup and a half of boiling water....1 tbsp baby oil WITH ALOE (j&j) and 1tbsp of baby body wash....works like a charm and for runny noses that need to be wiped a million times a day, they work great without drying out or irritating their little noses. Oh and I find a smooth knife works better and with less mess than a serated knife.
