I was working at McD's while going to school when those came out in the early 90s. What a nightmare. People would get angry because it took 10 minutes to get their food. 2 minutes is what people expected for a regular order of a burger and fries, can't do that with pizzas that are cooked to order. And people would inflate their wait times - I've been waiting for 20 minutes!!! I can see on my screen how long it's been, the computer counts up from the time the order is entered. 8:14, 8:15, 8:16... but you can't say 'no, it's been 8 minutes' because that would p* people off more. No, you tell them 'okay, I'll check on it' when I know it's going to be another two minutes and meanwhile I'm not serving other customers... oy. They really backed up the drive-thru too. Did I mention nightmare? They tasted good though.

Ah, I understand, Dave. We didn't mind the wait because I was usually with my son when he was little, and we would just talk in the car, or watch the cars go by - what all boys don't mind doing, especially since it was on a busy street in Lloydminster then.

So Pink the perfume has been discontinued in Canada for years, but after seeing this thread I looked it up. I can buy it from the US for an exorbitant amount of shipping if I want.
And I do.It is not how much we have, but how much we enjoy, that makes happiness.

Penny candy
I would take one of the small paper bags and fill it with assorted penny candy then take it to the variety store owner who would pour it out on the counter and count them out and then it was 1 cent each
Best part was they did not charge any tax

Uggh, black licorice flavoured gum... no thanks. You can have it.
However, on the reverse is a HORRIBLE product I cant figure WHY is still available... is Thrills Gum.
Right on the package it says "It still tastes like soap!" -- It's been around for close to 40 years. WHY DOES THIS STILL EXIST??Last edited by bhlombardy; Wed, Jan 25th, 2017 at 09:42 AM.

25 cent candies at the variety stores and the single serve glass pop bottles where I had to find the bottle opener on the coolers to get at the beverage. Did not enjoy paying deposit on the bottles but it was incentive to return the bottle to use the money on candies.

I thought I saw a brand of squeeze cheese at a dollar store within the last year or two. Seemed like a cool idea but it was a practical mess to try to get product out without squirting it at the wrong thing.
