ExpiredI learned from the cashier that it will be taking effect in my area starting April. So I was going to post a thread on this, but did a little research and
found that this has been in effect for many regions and has been in effect in Toronto since Jan. So it's not new...but I also came across this Q&A question and I did not know about it before...
1. You currently offer PC points when customers use reusable bags. Will this program continue?
Yes, currently our President's Choice Financial® customers earn 50 PC points for every reusable bag they use (i.e., doesn’t have to be a PC® Green™ bag), when they pay with either their President's Choice Financial® MasterCard or President's Choice Financial® bank card. It is our current plan to continue offering this program.
If only I had known about this...I would have brought my own reusable bags more often.
Hope this is helpful for those who didn't know. This thread is currently associated with: Real Canadian Superstore RCSS

I don't know why your store hasn't been doing it all this time, because it's been in effect at all the LCL stores I've gone to shop for quite a while now... since early last year, maybe even earlier than that... I find that very weird... anyways, it's good for any reusable bin or bag, it doesn't have to be a PC bag or bin... but it's not applicable if you're reusing plastic grocery bags.
I know on April 22, LCL stores are going bagless nationwide. They're moving to a soy-based plastic that is biodegradeable, and are gonna charge 5cents a bag, otherwise you have to bring in your bins or bags.

You basicly need to pass 20 times to earn 1$. So once a week that's
5 months.

Am I right to assume it's same with Loblaws?
I only recently started bringing my own bags there although I always bring bags at No Frills.
I don't really understand how points are computed, lol.
Anyway, what I noticed at Loblaws is that they even deduct $0.01 from your total if you bring your own bag.
At first I thought it was an error, lol.

Some other stores that offer incentives to bring your own bags
Zellers/HBC = 100HBC points per bag up to 500points per visit.
McGavin's Bakery = -$0.05 off your bill per bag

If you're a big shopper, you can earn a lot. Pack your groceries in 10 bags, 10 bags = 50 cents! It doesn't take 5 months to earn a dollar unless you're only buying for one, and/or you don't do most of your shopping at an LCL store. You'd be surprised how many bags get used on a $300 grocery bill!!!
