While we have a large family, we still obviously don’t need twenty bottles of bodywash or thirty tubes of toothpaste, but others do. A lot of the personal care items as well feminine hygiene, razors and cleaning products that we are able to get for free or almost free go with a close friend who works and distributes them at the women’s shelter. When asked, a mother at the women’s shelter only wanted some laundry detergent. She received some laundry detergent, some soap, shampoo and plenty more.

Often these women literally arrive at the shelters with nothing but their children and the clothes they are wearing. What woman doesn’t like luxurious lotions and hair care products? It costs us literally nothing and no time but has such a positive effect in their lives.

Our stockpile also goes towards homemade gift baskets for all occasions, giveaways for events at my mother in law’s elementary school, etc. I know that some people have mentioned that they wouldn’t want to receive ‘store-brand’ items and would turn their noses up to them but I also add an array of items that I know they would like such as a few department brands of cosmetics or perfumes, lush towels I was able to get at a discount, etc. The baskets always turn out amazing, and I have always received nothing but overjoyed reviews from the recipients!
