I thought it might be nice to start a thread so we know what we should always use a coupon for to get the best deals, i.e. coupons that come out so often for these items that you can get them for free or almost free...Here is what I have come up with so far:

    Toilet paper- Cottonelle, Royalle

    Paper Towels- Scott

    Mr Clean

    Windex

    Body Wash- Olay, Dove, Aveeno

Shampoo & Conditioner- Gillette, Herbal Essences, Pantene

    Febreze

    Swiffer

    Glade

Please add to the list !!

    Diapers/ Wipes- Huggies/Pampers

    Laundry Soap

    Facial Soap

    Razors/ Blades

    Bread

    Soup

    Meat

    Cheese

    Kitty Litter, Pet food

    Thanks everyone!

    Bread
    Soup
    Cheese
    Kitty Litter
    Meat (chicken, beef, ham, etc)

All these items go on sale at least once a month, so if you have a freezer, you can easily buy an extra loaf of bread, or extra package of ground beef when on sale, so that way you don't run out and need to buy it full price.

O.k. but seriously..... a few, not just items but rules I try to follow also.

    - snacks for kids lunches
    - juice boxes
    - find a good butcher and buy bulk if you can
    - find a european/middle eastern type fruit/veggie market/store they are dirt cheap because that's the way they do it - market style shopping is their way of life
    - buy in season and local when possible - I pick right from the farms around Montreal and store what I can in the garage
    - get a cold room if possilbe/ 2nd fridge/freezer(I know not everyone can do this)
    - find sample sales for clothing
    - get on mailing lists for those once or twice a year warehouse sales(I'm going to Reebok this weekend to buy shoes for the famliy for the year)
    - speak to people in the stores, become friendly with floor people, cashiers, better to have them on your side than not (besides what does it cost to exchange a few pleasantries?)
    - always ask for a discount (YES I do LOL, I have no shame) If an item is slightly damaged, the last one, or maybe a manufacturers flaw ASK, even at Zellers, Walmart, Home Depot, Winners) What's the worst they can say NO?
    - drive around Industrial areas and check for ones that have a "Open to the Public" sign, these can be real finds. I have found bakeries, clothing places, furniture, appliances, just about everything. Just recently the place who sells Easter chocolates to Walmart and Zellers opened up for 2 weeks before easter. Got great deals on bulk, broken boxes, mishaped stuff, all good for eating, baking, fondues
    - most important - check for end of season sales

Sorry I got off track from "items" but I think these things are important too.

Lol! I was thinking the same thing!!! The only things I buy full price all the time are milk and bananas as those I have NEVER seen on sale!!! Most other items I can find on sale at the very least......

    diapers
    cleaning supplies
    laundry supplies
    paper products

I always be sure to check clearance bins as well for items that I use....
