April 25, 2010 - Harbie suggested using forum rather than thread. So we'll try that for a week.

So this started fall of 2009 when there were lots of trades in new coupons found forum. Mods (at that point in time) were having trouble removing the trades super fast and one trade would attract others.

So I tried writing a post that we could all bump up that had a really clear title but also offered some help. And it's worked and worked and worked - thanks to everyone who bumps it up.

I'm hoping folks can bump this up just for a day or two. Right now we have about 8 trading relating posts on the first page. Let's see if we can cut this down to zero or one in the next day or two.

I tried to write a title that catches the eye of newcomers and the clutter of trade posts "goes" way down. Please suggest a better title - we can try it on day 2 or 3 if people like this idea.

Feel free to rewrite -- suggest a different message for the text.

Obviously for newcomers where to post isn't clear as it happens pretty much everyday that people who are new post their trade here. We want to be nice to them and inviting and welcoming - I know at first even after reading I found it confusing.:confused:

I'm pretty sure the Sticky's say where to post. But enough people are falling through the cracks and not reading the Sticky or finding it.

So one idea is to do a thumbs up :thumbs_up: on this post or one like it that says "Trade over here, not in this area, please" and give them a link so that it would stay at the top but look like a post. This way it will be close to the "New post" button and hopefully it will cut the clutter.

Let's see if works on a trial basis for two days?

What other ideas should we try?

Okay so far this has been about 10 hours and not trades posted above this post.

Please keep commenting and giving it a bump so it stays near the top. I'll report the stats again later today.

If mods have time to do it, it might also be a good idea to move current-misplaced threads in Coupons section into Coupons Trading.

cashinstinct - It would be great if mods had the time to move them over. Once one person does it the next person follows their lead and suddenly it's like rabbits multiplying.

I accidentally put a coupon thread where it didn`t belong, but I don`t know how to delete it. I created a new one where it`s supposed to be though.

If you open the thread and click on the big red "Mark as expired" button at the end of the first post, that will get rid of it.
