  1. Thanks Lynn. Yes, it was a shock. I thought he was getting better. So very sad. Do you know what was wrong with him ? I can't find that she ever said.
And you're right. 2017 isn't starting out so well. I sure hope it improves.
  2. Thank you, Hicks....I was hoping for a better beginning for all of us, but omg, poor Darth...every time I think of her I begin to tear up. God help us all this year.
Bless you and your family, Hicks. I sure hope you're feeling much better with those antibiotics.
    Happy New Year!
  3. Hicks...let's just hope and pray that 2017 is kinder to us, gentler with us than that last year! I'm so sorry you're so sick. But that's the LAST of it, my Friend!! Onward to better days ahead for all of us!
God bless and happy new year to you!!
  4. Hicks, the year can't end fast enough! It looks like a pretty positive Rooster year!
Typing on my iPad, we're watching The Mummy Returns,,,,cute, fluff...
  5. I know, you've been through hell, but you're getting better, a little @ a time.
Yes, my friend's been here a week now. He's better than he was, but it'll be a little while before he can be on his own.
I want to thank you so much for the Christmas card; it arrived today. I only get my mail delivered once a week, long story, but it was a wonderful surprise. Thank you.
  6. Oh, Hicks, it was all too wonderful!! But truth be told, I'm actually d-o-n-e with all the rich foods, drinks...okay, except for the Rumchatta and Amarula that I still need to get through before January first. So it'll be another season of dieting like I did from Christmas to May '14 when I lost almost 50 lbs before I broke my leg and spent the last 2 1/2 years putting it all back on...probably. I'm too scared to step on the scale right now.
Is your friend out of the hospital? How is he doing?
I sure hope you have time to relax and decompress before your life gets so busy again....big hugs!!!
  7. Thank you, Hicks...it was just the best! We're so blessed to have our DD and her family so close! On the down-side...since dinner was at their home...no left-overs here!!
I hope you have a wonderful day today...did I see that you're expecting company soon??
  8. Thanks. It's done, at least for now. My friend is still in hospital. He has a severe, acute concussion, but a little more coherent today.
  9. Ugh, ain't that the bitter, ugly truth?!! Stupid white crap all over the place! We'be been spared the huge storms some areas of the south have experienced thank goodness, pretty much just what we got last week, so no slow-blower necessary for my Hubby. Did you ever get your snow cleared? I can't imagine doing that, even when before my fall...I hope you find someone to help. How is your friend doing today??
  10. Isn't it amazing how incredibly careful we are about walking after breaking a bone from a fall?? SO easy to do, I worry about everyone here now! As for painting snow...yah, I hear ya..cute, but only if it actually killed the snow.
  11. Thanks hon. The city does snow removal for seniors, and I'm registered, BUT they only do it 36 - 48 hours after it's stopped snowing. What good it that.
I took Jake for a walk, not fun for me, but he had some fun. On the positive side, a friend's DH showed up & did my snow. I was so very grateful, I can't stop crying. I really didn't know what I was going to do. It took me 45 minutes to do the steps into my house, then I had to lay down with an ice pack. Maybe it's time to consider a condo. I swore I'd never live in a glorified apt.
  12. Oh you poor Kid...and poor Jake! Is it time, perhaps to hire someone or a company to relieve you of the hateful duty of moving snow around? I know I could never do anything like that and it would be awful to feel 'snowed in'. And those plows shoveling more at the end of drive-ways, esp if it's heavy snow, as you say. I hope you can find someone to help you out, Hicks. We got more of that crap overnight, but DH snow-blew it off the driveway, not enough for a plow to box us in, thank goodness....I can't agree more. This is the most hateful season of the year! Particularly for us not-so-young people! Some cities have companies that can help seniors in times like this...maybe a look-see could turn something up for you?
    All the best, my Friend....
  13. Good morning. I'm not surprised. Sitting, standing, bending, and reaching for all the 'stuff' for wrapping is tiring, even it you're in perfect health, and you're definitely not.
OMG - poor us. We got at least 6" of VERY heavy snow. Jake tried to go down to do his business, but the snow was so deep, it covered his legs and up past his abdomen. He could hardly move, & certainly couldn't 'go'. Now he's begging for a walk, but the plough has blocked us in. There's 2 - 3 feet @ the end of the driveway. I can't shovel. I tried a little on the deck so he could get down, but now I'm really sore. Oh, how I HATE winter
  14. Oh, Hicks, it sure doesn't take much for me to tire myself out; even wrapping the gifts this afternoon wore me out and my DH brought everything I needed to the dining-room to work on them! I wear down pretty quickly. I had a wee tipple of Cointreau over ice after I had finished and omgoodness, I'm not tolerating alcohol well at all, so I'm thinking that this Christmas I'll be sticking to gingerale. Woohoo...
G'night, my Friend, and sweet dreams!
  15. I knew you'd love having them over. But I'm not surprised that you were worn out. Bet you slept well.
Well, my cards are finally done, just have to mail them, except for a couple which I have to pick up gift cards for.
I'd have said something too, esp. since she only had water. Impatient - people; annoying. As if 5 minutes would make any difference.
  16. Oh, it was wonderful having them over, Hicks!! Our DD apologized so many times about not making enough time for us lately, but of course we understand her trying to get so much done before RRSP season is upon her after the holidays...They're such great company...I hope you're having a relaxing weekend, and yup, isn't it wonderful that we don't HAVE to venture out on weekends?!!
  17. Thanks. I didn't fall asleep till after 4:30 this morning, & had to be up by 7. It's been a long, tiring day, but hopefully, I can sleep today. Congrats on your accomplishing so much, so quickly with your knee. Keep up the good work.
  18. Aw, Hicks, I hope you got to sleep shortly after my rep or had a nice nap today. Those buggy wide-awake-nights are the worst! Wishing you a good night's sleep and beautiful dreams tonight, Sweetheart.
  19. Thank you, Hicks...sorry, I didn't receive any notice of your post on my page, so this is way late!! Yes, making progress, but it's uphill and down, so I'm trying to be patient...trying! I'm so happy to see that your Sister is making positive strides in her healing...keeping you in my prayers, Hon.
  20. Good morning hon. Raising your leg is HUGE progress !!!!! Congratulations.
  21. Helloooo, Hicks!!
It was a fine Tuesday in spite of the fact that it was a poopy morning with pain, but physio went well, I'm increasing my flex, getting stronger: I can actually raise my leg onto the bed without my DH or my bathrobe tie! LOL!!! Hey! That's progress, Missy!!
    I hope you're having a well-earned rest this week!!
    Sweet dreams, Hicks!
  22. WOW, 97 degrees - that's great. Keep up the hard work. You'll get there, it just takes some time, as you well know.
  23. Thank you, Hicks.....all the best on your church's auction! I'll be anxious to know how much your hard work raised! Have a lovely weekend, Sweets!
just saw your rep, thank you...it was a good day, physiotherapy went well, I went from a 70degree flex to a 97 degree flex so my therapist was really impressed. More work to be done, I still can't lift my leg off the bed even an inch, so yep...more exercises to keep doing.
  24. I'm so happy that things went well for you. Such a relief. The auction is this Saturday, and I can't wait for it to be over. The proceeds will go to my church, so fingers crossed it does well.
  25. Hello, Sweetie...goodness, Hicks, how terribly frightened I was about getting those staples out, you can't even begin to imagine! I was making myself sick over it! Thank God for those nurses who still care enough to remember patients are people too, and give them comfort instead of acting like robots just 'doing their jobs'! So is your auction this weekend? What a relief it's going to be for you once it's over and done with!! I can't remember what the auction is for, though.....Take good care, my Friend!!
  26. Nice to get out for lunch with a friend, because it'll be awhile before you can do that again.
I think most dogs love the 'catch me' game, at least Jake sure does. We take turns who's chasing who.
Unfortunately, I'm still not great, but some better. My stomach's still queazy, and my headache is hanging in in earnest.
My collections of donations is almost done. I still have about half a doz. collections to make, probably next week, then comes all the organization, paperwork, etc.
Got to get moving. I have to have a shower, then I have an appt. @ the bank. My 1st outing in over a week. I don't want to go, but I need some groceries too. I hope you have a good day.
  27. I had a lovely lunch out with a Friend, did a little shopping and Jenny and I just played "catch me, catch me" in the living-room (she just discovered she can go between the sofa and the wall to get away ) so I'm checking in here, then hitting the sack.
How's the flu-bug treating you? Gone, I hope? Our DD was fighting it for over a week, it seemed to disappear and return twice. I think she's finally over it, hope you are, too.

How's the charity event coming along??

    Sweet dreams, my Friend!
  28. Thx. I have no idea. I don't know anyone else who's sick. Hopefully, I can stay awake for an hour or so. Really getting tired of Jello. lol
  29. You're so right, Hicks...GS was thrilled to see one that close!
Gosh, how on earth did you manage to get the flu, Hon? Although our DD had it most of last week, and said it's flying around the offices here. I hope you get well soon.

How's the charity event coming along?? Honestly, I forget now what it is!!!
  30. Yet, cold here, too...+2, but hitting -2 overnight...sign of the times, and not st all happy about it. However, if we can get Halloween over with quickly, We can begin to concentrate on Christmas! Yay!
