    Thanks for the rep! We, too, didn't have family around until our son was four, and we moved to where my two sisters were, and my husband's two brothers. So from when our son was born, it was an hour and a half to my mom's where she often had family gatherings.
    Interesting how people parent so differently!

    Another possible option, it to max out your husbands RRSP to get the most refund and put the refund on the mortgage. Just don't forgot to put a little away somewhere for yourself!
