No, I don't work for and am not related to any HVAC distributors. I'm just a homeowner who spent a lot of time researching and interviewing contractors because we did the entire gamut of home improvements for the eco audit a few years ago. We had 3 or 4 contractors come for the furnace and A/C, 3 or 4 for the windows, 3 or 4 for the insulation, ... I also know several other families in the area who also upgraded their homes for the eco audits.

It's not easy to weed the good companies from the bad, especially when you buy from the salesperson, and the installers could be completely different. I think it's really important to have a company with their own installers and not contracted out. That and good service is worth it's weight in gold.

I didn't know you were in the market for an A/C. You should have let me know and I could have given you several references!
