  1. haha see thats exactly what happened to me! I tried lettuce and spinach and both didn't do well and when I did pick them they were awful tasting. I tried carrots which was a complete joke. Imagine the smallest baby carrot you have ever seen. Got it? Now quarter that. LOL. My celery actually did pretty well but I think thats only because I did the whole reuse the bottom of a store bought celery. My broccoli and cauliflower looked more like glorified weeds.

So all in all the only things I had success with were the green onions and celery from a reused bottom. Both however require constant watering and I for one do not have time for that especially in this heat and drought season we are in. So I too came to the conclusion no more balcony gardening for me.
  2. Thanks! One of my tomato plants (sweet million variety) was doing well...that is, until we had a crazy wind/rainfall that the one branch that had little green tomatoes broke off! I better fertilize to get the plant to produce more fruit before the fall Otherwise, my other plants suffered a worse fate - threw out my kale bowl, raspberry isn't producing any fruits (thinking of giving it away to someone with a yard and hopefully it will provide them with a bounty of berries next year!), onion didn't sprout, celery was a failure too...I am sure I am forgetting a plant or two. In any event, no more balcony planting for me...I'll stick to admiring other people's photos
  3. I agree and I think pretty much everyone on this site would agree with us too. My mother was and still is horrible with money. The saying "money burning a whole in my pocket" definitely describes her. And then of course because of that she now has too much junk and is always complaining about it. I hate to think of the day when it will be my job to clean it all up once she is gone. Not looking forward to that!
  4. Oh my hun, you're younger than I am
I hope it changes given how the economy has affected so many people over the last decade. It should start young - schools really need to teach kids about money/debt etc.
