Good for you, sandiecoop1! I have cut the ties to cable about 5 years ago, and am looking forward to 5 more! My kids were 11 and 13 when this happened. I don't miss it at all. The kids think it's funny when they don't know what other kids are talking about when it comes to tv shows, celebrities, etc. If there is something we absolutely must watch, then it can probably be found on the internet.
The quality (content) of a lot of reality shows is really corruptive, IMHO. Young minds need not know half of what's out there!
Down side is we all spend a bit too much time on the computer.. wish we could evenly be active and social in person and still have internet. Just my two cents.

I tried to cancel my Rogers VIP cable about a month ago. They asked the reason and I said it was because I work overnights and am not awake or home to watch the shows I want to watch - so they offered me a free PVR. I said also I was cancelling because my 40% discount on all services was up and they reduced my bill further, beyond what I'd already been paying. So... I still have cable. :s

Yep, if you change your mind in 6 months and call them to cancel, don't be surprised if they offer you further reduced fees or a couple months free service to keep you as a customer. My mom's been trying to cancel our satellite for the past 2 years and we're still connect. Why? They kept offering 2 months free then 10% off for 6 months after....
