You should have put "other charities" as well. hehe

    We support the Diabetes Association.
Unfortunately as much as I'd like to do more for my community, at this point in our lives, with three children and not much of an income, it's a little impossible. I need my own charity. LOL (that was a joke)

However! At least with the Diabetes one what they do is call you in advance and they tell you when a truck will be in our area. We then gather house hold items to donate.
They sell them and keep the money for the organization. (research and such)

    Thank you so much!
And no worries about your poll.
    You've done a good job.

The reason I pick that to donate too over all of them right now is that my father has lost his eye sight, and both his legs to this diseases. My brother was just diagnosed with type 2. Even though money is sorely tight I at least do that one little bit.
(and the children that come selling chocolate bars from our local school)

I also don't have much money to donate right now...
During the school year I volunteer with the organic food group (we buy local fruit and veg. and form organic food boxes at cost.. turns out to be less expensive than non org. at the grocers.. and right on campus too!).

I also help with fundraising for womens shelters, and bake for bakesales for most of the enviromental groups on campus (battery recycling- we have to mail them to Vancouver ourselves!; compost group, save the such and such ,etc).

Around Christmas time I make a point of sending out at least two of the shoeboxes to Africa (sometimes more and I donate to others)... I save stuff all year.. you can get good deal on Christmas pencils/etc in January

I am a member of Amnesty International but have not had time to do anything for a while.

I am big into environmental organizations.
Ducks Unlimited, MB & Sk Wildlife, Greenwings, the local green team efforts,
and then I donate to everyone who shows up at my door and at my shop.
I also donate weekly to the local food bank. I take bread, milk, eggs, cereal, KD, soup, canned meat of some sort and formula (I had a friend who's hubby drank a lot and she had to use the food bank often so I do this for ppl like her & her kids..she is now hubby less and doing soooo much better)
I also sponsor 3 children through world vision.
My business probably donates about $4000 a yr.
This yr I had just over $1500 in personal donations

Good for you!!!! Once I am 'on my feet' I really hope to be able to give more... Would love to be able to give 10% to church and/or various charities.... Just can't right now...

the donation to the food bank and the 3 world vision children are the ones that make me feel the best.
I adopted my first child when my oldest granddaughter was born, adopted the next when my youngest was born, and then another when my daughter got pregnant last yr...she lost the baby but we still have the adorable 4 yr old.
When the new babies are born at the end of the yr we will adopt 1 more. We feel w/ the amount of money we spend on non-necessary things for our grandchildren we should help another child.

they say charity begins at home. the only charity i do on a regular basis is donate old clothes and house hold item is to diabites. On occaison if finaces permit. we also often donate a dollar at walmart and zellers toys r us to different charities.(buy the paper balloon flower ect.) and every year at christmas we donate something to the toy drive. I get my oldest to help pick something out and give it to the drive at the parade.and 2 we bought a dream home ticket that was to raise money for the hospital but it is so expensive we can't buy every year.

We donate to different charities through out the year. Every Thursday and Sunday we are at a car show and the money raised goes to different charities. There are too many to list, but some of them are Jesse's Journey, Children's Hospital, Cancer Society.

We live in a small town so most of the charities I give too stay around here.
But on the larger ones we do give to cancer, diabetes. The food bank donations we give regularly and the toy drive. Old toys and clothes are also given to organizations.

cndylady... you want to adopt me next? lol.
