When the cashier uses code 2001 while keying in the coupon, then you are getting OP on the coupon, and taxes will apply to the coupon. I have only seen them use 2001 on any coupons I've used at SDM. I have read though that code 2002 is the opposite: no OP, but no taxes either.
I too am interested in the math to calculate your percentage savings. Please explain, as I am a relatively new SDM OP shopper.

I just make sure to buy things that are a decent deal, ie. cheaper or the same price as other stores. That way, all my points are a bonus and I don't have to calculate anything! I only redeem my points at the 75000 level on bonus redemption days (like yesterday).

I find it rare that stuff is cheaper at SDM than at other places. I've spent money to get points that never really turn out to benefit me. If I buy clearance stuff, I don't get many regular points because the items are so cheap.
I've never bought a gift card though. I guess I should start doing that.
I'm still about 4000 points shy of the Plus, but there's no way I can spend that much in a month on anything useful.
I'm frustrated because I can never seem to get the points to work in my favour, even with flyers, coupons, etc.

This is a good idea. Think we could also use an Optimum Q & A...seems like every time there's any kind of SDM thread (i.e. bonus points, promo redemptions, etc.) the same questions crop up. Anyone want to run with this idea?

i dont get it, you state plus member for bonus redemption are 35, 000 and 65,000 points but really you have to redeem 40,000 and 75,000 and you get 5, 000 and 10,000 back respectively imeediately upon redemption

Great idea! Thanks for starting this!
Thanks to all the tips/tricks here at SC! I was able to redeem (2nd time) 75,000 points ($200) yesterday!
I buy the SC GC before I shop, buy stuff I use Milk, bread, eggs, peanut butter, & other food items that are on SALE! at SDM. Also use the bonus point coupons (only if it is something I use). Save up for 20X points events to do a bigger shop & use coupons whenever possible...also have done 2X SDM friend events!
It doesn't take long to build points , but alot of planning & organzing, LOL
Any other tips/tricks I'm missing, let me know! Thanks!

To redeem you HAVE to have 40 000 or 75 000 points. The benefit of being a plus member is that they give you 5 000 or 10 000 points back upon redemption. Makes sense to me.
And technically, you can earn points on tax by purchasing a SDM gift card to cover the total with taxes. You earn the 10 points per dollar of taxes based on that.

Also a trick for bonus redemption days: If say you wanted a Wii @199.99 and they are out of stock- buy something like a $200 camera with your redeemed points. SDM cannot reverse back points when you do a return but they do a gift card for the amount of the purchase. By redeeming your points for the camera you then take advantage of the extra $50 promo and can then exchange it for the Wii when they get it in stock.

I have some questions here:
Can you buy the SDM GC using the SDM master card? If you can, you will get 10 regular points for $1 and 15 points bonus for $1 using the SDM mastercard?
Thank you in advance!

Yes you can use your Shoppers MC. There is a promo right now where you will get 500 bonus points for buying one of their top 10 gift ideas, one of which is a shoppers GC.
Just take the time to look for the gift card display before going to the checkout and having to run back and grab one...like I did today lol.
