SLR's optical zoom is usually only 3x. You have to buy attachments for zooms.

this is a pretty good deal for a DSLR. Canon has 3 better models out now (XTi, XSi, & T1i), and plans for a fourth, so they are most likely clearing these out to make way for better models. I had the XS in 2006, great model for a beginner DSLR user!!!

I HIGHLY recommend the T1i model. It is amazing. I went from xti to T1i, and it literally made my heart skip a few beats. I love my T1i, HD, video. It was an early xmas present to myself.

Too bad the Staples one comes with non-IS kit lens. It is better to spend a little more to get one with IS kit lens. Wal-mart has XS with IS kit lens for $498. You can PM at Future Shop for $496 and save 5% GST when you pay with visa card, equivalent to $472 plus PST & GST.

id wait till boxing day deals, if this is an older model the markdowns at boxing day will be very substantial.

I got an olympus DSLR at futureshop this year at a great price and 2 lenses, I price matched and actually bought it at henrys haha.
