No Spring here! Stormy today! -7 feels like -16...blowing snow...winds will be gusting at 105km/hr+ this afternoon...just a lovely winter's day
An intensifying low pressure system approaching from the eastern United States is forecast to track northeastward over the Gulf of St. Lawrence Tuesday morning. Precipitation will spread across the Island in advance of this system late Monday into Monday night. Eastern parts of Newfoundland will receive mainly rain, apart from a potential period of freezing rain at first. Elsewhere, precipitation will begin as snow, but will then likely change through ice pellets and freezing rain to rain later Monday night as temperatures rise. Precipitation will end over most areas Tuesday morning, but flurries and blowing snow will likely develop over western Newfoundland as temperatures fall during the day. Strong easterly winds will spread over the Island on Monday night as the low approaches, and then shift to strong southwesterlies in its wake on Tuesday. Wind gusts will likely exceed 100 km/h over many parts of the Island from this system, with strong winds possibly persisting over some areas into Wednesday.

Yeah, we got it here in Nova Scotia today. Snow started at lunch time and dropped about 10-15 cm QUICKLY, then freezing rain. It is still freezing rain out there now. It's supposed to change to rain but then get cold again overnight. Might be a skating rink out there in the morning.

Statements
4:37 AM EDT Tuesday 22 March 2016
Special weather statement in effect for:
- City of Toronto
Winter weather threatening this week.
Although it's officially spring, winter weather is still normal this time of year around the Great Lakes. A weak disturbance will bring a little snow or rain to most of Southern Ontario today. However, a stronger low pressure system is expected to emerge from Colorado and affect the region Wednesday through Thursday.
Although there is considerable uncertainty with the exact track of the storm, the latest guidance suggests significant snow is possible over areas extending from Lake Huron and Georgian Bay across Lake Simcoe into Eastern Ontario. Freezing rain and ice pellets will be possible across a large portion of Southwestern Ontario, the Golden Horseshoe and parts of Eastern Ontario. Rain is expected closer to Lake Erie.
Environment Canada meteorologists are watching the evolution of this storm closely. Even a slight northward or southward shift in the track of the low will affect how much snow, freezing rain or rain falls at any particular location.
Motorists should be prepared for a return to hazardous winter driving conditions this week, especially in areas that receive freezing rain or snow.
Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada. To report severe weather, send an email to [email protected] or tweet reports to #ONStorm.
