Tropical Cyclone Information Statement

For Tropical Depression ten.

The next information statement will be issued by 09:00 a.m. ADT Tuesday.

Potential Tropical Cyclone Ten located near the Georgia coast is expected to become tropical storm Irma on Tuesday. Irma is then expected to track across offshore Canadian waters on Thursday as an intense post-tropical system.


The Canadian Hurricane Centre is monitoring the development of Potential Tropical Cyclone Ten, currently located just off the coast of the southeastern United States. This system is expected to become Tropical Storm Irma on Tuesday, which is then expected to accelerate toward the northeast and evolve into a large and fairly intense post-tropical storm as it tracks across the southern Canadian marine district later Wednesday and Thursday. Based on the latest forecast track, most of the rain and strongest winds from post-tropical Irma are expected to remain offshore and not impact Canadian land areas. However, some rain and gusty northeast winds could brush Nova Scotia and southeastern Newfoundland on Thursday. Southern Canadian marine waters will likely see gale to storm force winds.


The Canadian Hurricane Centre will issue an updated information statement on this system by 09:00 ADT Tuesday.
