It's a glorious 12 degrees out there, with the sun peeking out from behind the clouds occasionally.
I drove home with the window open today

Frozen iguanas falling from trees during cold snap in Florida
Last Updated Jan 5, 2018 5:10 PM EST
MIAMI BEACH, Fla. -- It's so cold in Florida that iguanas are falling from their perches in suburban trees. Temperatures dipped below 40 degrees Fahrenheit early Thursday in parts of South Florida, according to the National Weather Service in Miami.
That's chilly enough to immobilize the green iguanas common in the region.

No flash freeze here, heart. The temp doesn't go below 8 overnight. Tomorrow afternoon should be interesting when the freezing rain starts, though. And yes, it's pouring here too.

January is not suppose to thaw
...its suppose to snow and snow and snow..time for snowmobiling and cabins and winter picnics and ice fishing and , and ...
SPECIAL WEATHER STATEMENT
Issued at 10:41 Thursday 11 January 2018
A January Thaw this weekend for much of Newfoundland.
A slow-moving frontal boundary will approach from the west and lie over the Island much of this weekend. Mild air and a steady stream of moisture will bring rain to areas south of the frontal boundary. Colder conditions will promote wintry precipitation to its north.
For the Northern and Baie Verte Peninsulas: Rain will begin by Friday night, and change to a prolonged period of freezing rain by early Saturday. Significant ice buildup is likely before precipitation changes to snow Saturday night or Sunday.
For the South and West Coasts: Rain, heavy at times, will begin Friday night or Saturday morning and persist until Saturday night. Amounts will likely exceed 50 mm in some areas. Substantial snow melt and runoff is anticipated. Warnings will likely be required.
For Central Newfoundland: Periods of rain will begin Friday night or Saturday morning, but may change to freezing rain Saturday night. Mild air accompanying the rain will contribute to significant snow melt.
For Eastern Newfoundland, including the Avalon Peninsula: Occasional showers or drizzle are expected on Saturday, followed by steadier rain on Sunday. With temperatures likely exceeding 10 degrees, significant snow melt can be expected.

Potential for icy conditions Friday.
Rain, which will affect the area tonight, is forecast to change to snow Friday as temperatures plummet with the passage of a cold front. There may also be a brief period of freezing rain during the changeover from rain to snow.

The temperature has dropped dramatically here. It's now only 3 degrees and raining. Surprisingly, it's not even that windy. Usually when the temp changes so quickly here, the wind is howling. Anyway, I'm just waiting for the freezing rain to start. Should be pretty soon now.
