Wintry mix of precipitation expected Monday night and Tuesday.

A low pressure system is to forecast develop along the east coast of the U.S. on Monday and move slowly northeastward, before crossing island on Tuesday night. Ahead of the low, precipitation is expected to begin as snow in the southeast on Monday evening and spread northwestward overnight.

East of the low's track, a change over to rain is expected on Tuesday, with the potential for several hours of freezing precipitation in some areas during the changeover. West of the track, significant snowfall amounts are possible.

As the system has yet to develop, there remains significant uncertainty in the forecast track and the timing and location of heaviest precipitation. Environment and Climate Change Canada meteorologists will continue to monitor the situation and provide more details as they become available.
