Issued at 05:03 Friday 08 February 2019
SummaryWintry Mix to develop later today.
Snow will develop over southwestern Newfoundland this afternoon and spread to the remainder of the Island during the evening. For much of northeastern Newfoundland the snow will transition through ice pellets and freezing rain to rain overnight. Freezing rain warnings may be required for this evening and rainfall amounts for the northern Avalon may approach warning criteria tonight.
Additionally, strong south to southeasterly winds will develop later today and will shift to very strong westerly winds on Saturday. These strong westerlies should continue through the day Sunday before gradually easing Sunday night into Monday.

The birds are doing their mating dances
and the turtles have found each other
in the pond, sure signs of spring here.
You'll notice the sand hill cranes knees bend
backwards making it hard to jump.
I especially like it when the male throws stuff
into the air with his beak like paper or napkins or
whatever he can find.
Not my video.
