Significant ice build-up due to freezing rain is expected or occurring.

A very long duration and intense period of freezing rain has begun or will begin this evening and will then persist into Friday morning before temperatures rise above freezing and precipitation tapers to periods of rain or drizzle. However, parts of the northeast coast may be slow to warm and freezing drizzle may persist through most of the day on Friday.

Total freezing rain accumulations possibly exceeding 20 mm are expected throughout the event. This significant ice buildup will make conditions very slippery. The public is advised to prepare for possible power outages and dangerous travel conditions
