Id say mcdonalds fries and a teen burger from a and w would be my fave combo.
I find bk's burgers "flamebroiled" taste like the squirted lighter fluid on the patty. I seriously have that taste im mouth for the next several days.
Bk is my husbands fave though.

Every single time I go to Wendy's my burger is cold, I bring it back up to the counter and ask for a fresh one, they say sure, they hand me the "fresh" burger and its cold to.
I give up on Wendys and BK, I once went to BK and ordered a Whopper, I was watching from the side where they make it, well the girl working picked up an already wrapped and made burger sitting on the counter, stuck it in the microwave for 30 seconds and put it on my tray. I wanted to throw up, I asked for my money back and left. Who know how long it was sitting there??
Mcdonalds wins every time for me, always hot and fresh burgers and fries.
I had an interesting experience a few years ago at Wendy's. While we were standing at the counter waiting for our order, there were three teenage employees standing around behind the counter directly across from us -- and I mean three feet away. The girl was giving the two boys advice on things TO DO WITH their girlfriends. (The boys were listening with rapt attention) It was the lewdest conversation imaginable, and it was right in front of customers!
I stopped going to Wendy's after constant disappointment, I have no idea what the clowns do at my local one but the fries are cold 100% of the time, it's unreal.
The final straw for me was I ordered their "baconator" (read: heart attack on a bun) and of course I got it to go and get home to find it was a "bacon classic" which had about 1/10 the amount of bacon and was cheaper so I ended up paying an extra $2 for a lesser burger. fed up I emailed head office and also told them about the cold fries, they sent me a standard form apology letter and an offer for a free burger that I never used.
forget them, IF I want fast food it's Burger King but really fast food is something we should all avoid!

I haven't had many problems with wendys but maybe thats because I don't go there often. I did have a weird problem at an a&w though. I was taking the bus from Winnipeg to Toronto. The bus stopped at an a&w which can sometimes be dead or packed beyond belief. I ordered 2 teen burgers and got back on the bus. Then I noticed neither of my burgers had any burger patty just the bun and condiments. I got it worked out just before the bus left. :shrug::)
I'm sorry you had such a lousy experience! I personally haven't been to a Wendy's in ages....the last time I was there was just after they'd changed their drinks to match the State's sizes...I could not believe how big a large was!! Apparently a lot of places in the States (even Timmie's) have bigger sized drinks...it's so odd! Anyways, at that time I found their burgers to be the best of the "cheap" fast food places, but like I say, haven't been there in ages.
I always go to A&W now when I eat out at fast food....I don't find their prices are that expensive compared to the other fast food places, especially since I find the quality of the burgers is much much better.
Yeah, I usually like the quality of their burgers, that is when they remember to put them on the bun. ;)Quote:

I find the Wendys fries have a metalic taste to them, like I am eating a stick of iron instead of a french fry.
And yes, meguwo said, custom order and request unstalted fries. They have to make them fresh. I never mind waiting for my food when at a fast food joint if they are preparing it fresh. 5 min on a chicken burger? I'm fine with that. At least it hasn't been sitting in the warmer for two hours.

yeah, the earwig tale gave me the gags. I haven't eaten there in years because they don't have any vegetarian options aside from salads... and this makes me glad. a friend of mine, a fast food fiend, has given up on the burgers at wendy's and instead always orders the chili and a baked potato. she then pours the chili all over the baked potato and swears by that. I imagine the chili would be good on fries too, a la coney island! ...all this wendy's talk just reminded me, I can remember a girl I knew in elementary school dipping her wendy's fries into those ice cream frosty drinks that wendy's is known for...
anyway, it's a shame wendy's is going downhill and so many of you are experiencing terrible service there. seems like it's widespread too, affecting the entire chain. lick's is still my fast food joint of choice.
Wendy's is always a hit and miss, I used to enjoy their Junior Bacon cheeseburger, but I remember a year or two ago when I opened up the paper wrapping to find 1/6 of a burger patty between the buns -ugh- and, all too frequently, they don't seem to cook the bacon.
I got hooked on it years ago when they had a $1.39 menu, but they have since got rid of that (now, it's almost to the point that their prices aren't competitive with other fast food chains offering similar (low quality) items)...so, I have stopped going there because McDonald's offers consistent good quality and reasonable prices with their value picks menu.
Earwig burgers....yum. Go Wendy's.
But....here's a story. In my younger days, I worked at Dairy Queen while a high school student. Often we'd get cheese that was dried out, lettuce with slugs in it, and tomatoes with obvious signs of rott on them.....were we told to throw them out? What do you think? NOPE. Fast food is a risky place....but I doubt it's limited to fast food.
