ExpiredWasn't sure where to post this thread; please move if should be elsewhere.
I've used YAK's 10-15-945 for a few years now when making long distance calls within Canada and to USA from my home phone (land line). I don't have any long distance plan with Bell; simply dial "10-15-945-1-area code-phone number" and I'm billed $0.05 per minute. Recently though I've noticed that calls of 1 minute or less are billed at a minimum charge of $0.20 (use to be $0.05 no matter time of call or msg left).
I came across some info online about a "10-10-229" service and wondered if anyone uses/had used it?
From what I can find, it seems the minimum charge (they refer to it as connection fee) is $0.05 and then calls within Canada are billed at $0.01 or $0.02 per minute (their reportedly is a message that plays when you place your call to tell you the exact rate; if you hang up before your call goes through you are not charged to listen to the message that confirms to you the rate re: your specific number dialed). This sounds like a good deal offering a better rate than YAK.
Any other dial-around service you use/like?This thread is currently associated with: Bell

Magic Number includes free and unlimited long distance to most Canadian cities, along with unlimited incoming/outgoing calls from your cell phone any time of day for just $8.95/month (no contracts). I signed up a week ago.

Jopava and Mulock: thanks for the information. My long distance usage varies quite a bit month to month; paying a monthly fee isn't to my advantage at this point.
JadeAngel: If I get this right, rate for calls up to 10 mins is $0.05 per min, $0.50 for calls 10 to 50 mins, and after 50 mins you are then charged $0.05 per minute. So a 70 minute call would be charged $1.50? That's a good deal, better than $2.50 for 50 mins with YAK. Thanks!
P.S.: On occasion I've used Caztel (10-10-710); if I knew my call was going to be longer than 20 minutes (20 minute call with YAK = $1.00) as a call up to 110 minutes is $0.99 with each additional minute $0.04 so I'd save with Caztel vs YAK.
