Because apparently I am now one of those women! I used to be able to go into any store and find shoes that fit. Now after two children, I discovered that I am a size 9 1/2 and EE width....so I can still buy sandals at places like Wal-Mart or Zellers but dress shoes are out of the question. If I go with a bigger shoe size the width will fit me but obviously the shoe itself does not. So where do women with big feet go to buy shoes?

Hi, I'm a member of the big, beautiful feet club, too!
I used to be a nine, then went to a 10 - and sometimes an 11. Have always had a wide foot, but a narrow heel. Also have curved-down toes, so the toe box has to be 'taller', not just wider.
Most of the time I have to get shoes that are designated "W" for wide.
I just got two pairs of dress sandals off sears outlet - they are clearing out summer shoes. One is a pair of dressy gladiators, the others are Tender Tootsies - I ordered them in an 11 wide, and they are perfect.
But for real dress shoes, it would have to be a "real" shoe store - and yes, that means forking out some big dough sometimes. However, nothing beats a good pair of leather shoes that you can wear forever!
I've picked up shoes at Payless - and end up not wearing them because they just aren't comfortable at all.
So it's hit and miss - and the hardest part is that stores don't order many pairs in the smallest and biggest sizes, so stock can be hard to find at times.
Good luck.... and just get shopping!

Depending on the style I can go from 9-11. I guess I'm lucky I seem to find them at many places. I just got 2 pair of boots with square toes so a little wider at the Bay size 11. Sometimes in running shoes I get a 9. Sandals are easy usually 10 or 11. I find a lot at Winners, actually most of them are from there. Walmart has wide sizes too. I get double E's for my dad there.
