I read what you wrote about what you thought a referral was, and I have to admit, I thought that was what a referral meant as well...

But as long as it physically allows us to type another sig/refferal/etc, I think we will still see people having more, because there will be new people who won't realise or read all the rules, etc.. I just hope they don't feel hurt/turned away when they get attacked for it (if many people mail them on it)...

Well it probably can be a little bit bigger. But the colours do make it stand out from your post.

I haven't read the last 37 pages but I think suggestions by members should be taken more seriously even if the mod(s) aren't thrilled by the idea. One thing I'm talking about is a few months or so ago there was someone who suggested a section or a sub section for something, many people thought it was a good idea, the mod did not. I remember it being made fun of and the idea was shot. If ideas aren't put into place for whatever reason that's fine but making fun of it is quite childish, it doesn't have to float your boat but please don't be childish about it.

OK...I just discovered this thread and decided to put in my 2 cents worth.

I'm not sure if my comments are a repeat of anyone elses...I tried reading the previous posts but 36 pages is A LOT. I got bleary-eyed at page 17...


Anyhoo...just wanted to say how much I LOVE this site. I know I'm only an occasional user when it comes to posting. I wish I could be more active--after 1 1/2 years since I joined I realize there are still parts of the site I still haven't discovered. Never tried cashback, never tried coupon trains, etc. I'd love to be more active, but between work and home, I barely have enough "me time". But when I do have some time and the computer all to myself, I always, always come here first. Well, second after checking my e-mails. Swagbucks is a close third, and I only discovered that site from reading about it on SC.

Thanks to this fantastic site I have received amazing freebies, found great offers and programs that have earned me real rewards and learned about free or next-to-nothing events in my area that I might not have heard about otherwise.

But most of all, I found a community of wonderful, caring people. Yes, I have looked at those "other" freebie sites but none of them seem to have the warmth and community spirit that SC does. What you have created, Boo, is truly special. Everyone's hard work is greatly appreciated! :flowers:

I do have one suggestion I'd like to offer...not calling it a criticism or a "don't like", just an idea.

I've seen a few posts (again I haven't read them all so forgive me if this is a repeat) from members suggesting how the forums can be tided up. I would like to suggest that a separate forum be created just for "Rewards Programs".

By Rewards Programs I am referring to all loyalty programs (Air Miles, Futura, SDM points, HBC, icoke) as well as any GPT's (Cashlagoon, QuickRewards and the like), search and win (Swagbucks, Luckysearch) or any other site that offers rewards points for activty (Lockerz) and the opportunity to cash out these points to redeem prizes. These are sites/programs that require ongoing activity and members can potentially receive prizes or rewards over and over again.

The Freebies forum should instead be used for "one-off" offers that may not be repeated, or to notify when occasional offers (like the P&G Brandsaver samples) come available.

I find that certain threads for the more popular programs (especially Swagbucks, Lockerz and Luckysearch) are so popular that they get comments every few minutes. And every time a comment is made, the thread gets bumped back to the top, displacing other offers. If anyone doesn't bother to check page 2 of the freebies forum (which I admit I don't always do if I'm in a hurry), someone could potentially miss out a great freebie.

In addition, I think the threads for some of these programs should be stickied, the way the thread for Points & Prizes is. BTW... P&P could also fall into the Rewards Progam category.

I have noticed that a few of the ongoing threads on the Contests page are actually also for loyalty programs for various radio and TV stations. All of these programs require people to enter codes and answer questions to receive points. While points can be used to enter contests, some will allow you to use the points to redeem directly for prizes (I have received many goodies from OMNI TV this way). And again, they require ongoing activity from members to collect points. By moving these ones out of the Contests section, it will make more room for all the one-time promotional contests.

Sorry for such a long post. I get wordy when I'm tired. Good thing it isn't 4 am...I would be writing a novel.

Since you're talking about my profile. Sally was very upset when she wrote that. You simply cannot read a short statement that was not elaborated and know what the person's emotional state was when they wrote it. The same would go for anyone here. We all get emotional and defensive when threads are made about us, mods included.

With all the hoopla about signatures lately, believe me, it will be worked on. I'm tired of it. :(

Does everyone realize that the more time Boo and I spend on minor things like signatures, the less time we have to spend on more important things like cashback and the wins/gifts that people so badly want us to get out? We only spend so much time a day on SC. If that time is spent on something like siggy's, gifts don't get worked on. :shrug:

For the record, I have taken all the ideas brought forth in this thread and put them in a file for Boo. Whether or not he implements them, it's his choice. A few people have said Boo hasn't been in this thread for a while - because he's been a little busy with school and I told him I was summarizing the suggestion list for him anyway.

I absolutely love this site, however, if there was one thing I would change, it would be all the jargon under my profile name when I post a message. I don't even know what half of this stuff means (i.e. Candy, RepPower, Feedback Score...okay, so I have the last one figured out..but what is Candy???). There should be an option to display this or not..I find it makes it a bit busy when you're reading. :)

I completly agree with you! I don't think the signature thing is a big deal. But when I am being told that I am breaking rules by other members and mods are telling me its frustrating because there aren't any real established rules for signatures OTHER than the referral inks.

But seriously, its not big deal to me. I understand now what it all means, but I wouldn't have had to go through any of this if there were guidelines in place. I don't think it would take too long to type out a few signature guidelines on the general welcome to SC- here is your guide thread (or whatever its called, lol).

We appreciate the time that mods spend on the site though, and I think cashback deserves the number one spot as it will give SC the most negative feedback and discourage other people from joining.

I'm kinda new to this site but I've profited from the info I received and it is much appreciated. However, I have to sift thru a lot before I find the quebec deals...is it possible to have a subheading for Quebec only? If such a thing already exists then my bad, but if not, it would make sifting thru the material a lot easier. Thanks for the great service you guys are providing to all smart canucks.

Is there any way to make the filters a little less strict? An individual on another thread just tried to type r*e*d*e*m*p*t*i*o*n and "emption" showed up. :-~

Perhaps the filter can be tweaked so that it only comes into play if the r word is paired with the other words (I'm assuming this is related to not mentioning competitor sites?).

& is this also the reason certain colours cannot be used in text? Or is that related to it being difficult for some users to see?

Sally is on vacation right now (has been for the past week). She is helping Boo get it organized, so it will resume when she comes back.

I love SC as a community resource it really rocks.

What I don't like is that the thumbs competition is malfunctioning. Currently, those that know not to expire their threads have an unfair advantage. People who use the Expiry dates as intended get shorted on the thumbs count posted here.

I checked and although I got 47 thumbs up for posting the Refer A Friend week Flyer at SDM because it is now an expired thread it doesn't get counted in the monthly thumbs up rankings. I think this should be fixed and that people who use the expiry dates on their thread as requested by SC should not be penalized.

Man, I keep learning new things - am I the only one who didn't know there was a 'thumbs competition'???

There are two, the monthly top deal posters and monthly top bragger posters. So yes, a thumbs up does mean a lot to some people!

in the second link a mod clearly states to another member that a blog link is fine even tho they already have 2 referral links (see post #2 for the question and post #6 for the mod response)

meguwo i think that if u had just scaled back all 3 links like u did for the first it would not be an issue... as a mod clearly stated it was ok for another member... and just ignore the pm's and reps from members who clearly do not know how to read (how is twitter and facebook a referral link, can someone please explain this to me)
