There is a feature where you can get a disposable email address, it lasts a couple of hours so you can sign up for stuff without giving your personal email, click the link and verify info. I am sure that is what most spammers use as they show up on sites that need email verification too

a follow up to the contests would be nice. I don't care if the results are not in yet, but I feel a lack of information there. I know everyone is busy and have lives, but it would be nice to know a time frame...and please take of the reminder to go vote

There are a few posters who lack tact, to put it mildly. Some folks like things handed to them on a silver platter and then complain the silver is tarnished.
Is there anything that can be done to moderate posters? Personally, I just ignore bad behaviour, but there are individuals who no longer frequent SC as a result. I know that it is a huge job (I used to screen messages on another list before they could be posted), but it might cut down on some of the hostility.
I know of a few instances where a poster causes some melodrama (they seem to go from one thread to another). When things die down on a certain thread, they resurface either as if nothing had happened or as a "new" poster - should someone catch them in a mistruth by quoting their own posts, they cause more melodrama.
As I said, it doesn't matter to me one way or another if folks want to be, um, goofy, but there are a few folks who've spoken to me quietly & told me they are now afraid to post for fear of being flooded with nasty posts by such individuals or having their wrists slapped by a mod when their words are taken out of context by said individual.
Not sure what the solution is. Wondering if others are encountering similar situations?

Andit - Report such people to myself, Sally and/or Boo and we will investigate. Please save posts and PMs as proof when you do contact us. Nasty posts or PMs is a really good way to get yourself banned.

The problem is that it's not so much nasty as a constant stream of "woe is me" & don't do it this way, do it that way to make it easier for me.
Without going into specifics, I post lists on various threads here, which have pertinent info (radio contests, weekly flyers, etc). On more than one occasion I've been told to post it a different way to make life easier for that particular individual.
The latest kerfuffle involved a similar episode, although not directed to me (well, sort of, as an addition). There were a lot of hurt feelings & the "woe is me" individual was the one reporting the folks who were exasperated with the postings & were perhaps a little less gentle than they could have been. It just seems that there are some folks that like to poke & poke (under the radar), then cry foul when the pokee gets annoyed.
The problem is that they play the victim & are seen as getting away with bad behaviour, which makes some shy members (who've taken a while to be comfortable enough to post) want to leave.
Again, I'm not sure what can be done to make things a bit happier in SC land. I suppose I'm just frustrated that nice folks feel like they cannot post for fear of some sort of reprisal.

I know I am going to get into trouble for saying this but I realize some newbies get some and I mean small amount of flax for certain people. BUT they really need to realize that not EVERY single comment is negative or being rude. I finding alot of newbies twisting things around and feeling something that I beleive is not there.

I've actually noticed that some attitudes are getting out of line with replies to newbies/posters. I was just notified of one yesterday that was rectified. This person was being so rude a newbie thought they were a mean moderator!
Anyways a quick report or pm and we can solve things.Last edited by Sally888; Tue, Apr 12th, 2011 at 04:59 PM.

One thing I was wondering is if it's possible to add the option to move a PM from the "Sent Messages" folder to another folder. I have created a couple of new folders (to organize trades, trains, etc.) and noticed that I can't move a sent message to my new folders. I love SC, great site!!!

I would like an "expired" button on every thread. I think this could clean up the site.
