unfortunately, like currency, there will always be counterfeit coupons floating around.
check out this list, you'd be surprised how far some people would go to produce some of the "high-value" coupons.

Save.ca is a great coupon site. I would hate to see them pull this site just because someone is copying their coupons. That sure would ruin it for the rest of us. Please, whoever is doing this, take this into consideration.
I can't believe people are photocopy coupons, this will ruin it for the rest of us that used them-please stop. Stores will stop taking them:cry:
some people make counterfeit coupons to sell on the internet. i've seen this happening a lot over the years. a couple years back there was even a high-value fake bertolli olive oil coupon in circulation. from what i read, many people already knew it was fake, but that didn't stop them from using it.
look how many people KNEW the maple leaf ones were copied and STILL were redeeming them KNOWING they were fake.
Wow... counterfeit coupons...
Just when I thought I have heard just about all the scams and counterfeit schemes out there...
It's mind boggling what really goes on in all these scammers' heads...
I heard from a cashier at shoppers that they are also counterfeiting cash register tapes.
People walk into the store pickup an item that they have a couterfeit receipt for and then return it saying that they changed their minds.
She said that it happened during the holidays.
Yikes, what people do to save money..
I think its a really bad idea, but there are sour ones who ruin it for the rest of us.. Bums!
pathetic!!! they are spoiling it for everybody
thats so sad. A lot of the Canadian stores are strict as is to accept coupons they make the hoenst couponers seem like thiefs.
could this be the reason that the timeline that you can claim save.ca coupons have seem to be extended?? now I have to wait many days before i can order more
it makes you think twice about being kind to others by leaving your cupons on the shelf :( I was thinking of doing that recently seeing as I wouldn't be using them. I guess i wont be anymore unless they are MFR coupons
WOW. People are dumb. Why ruin it for all of us. GREEDY GREEDY GREEDY. :(
my daughter is sick today...i've been thrown up on several times! however, those episodes did not disgust me in any way compared to the disgust I feel over reading this post. Absolutely deplorable behaviour. it's amazing how people choose to spend their time. ugh!
*astards. Sorry, I have no patience for people like this (and I've had a bad week) Hope they catch them
I can't believe it! Wow, I guess that I'll have to look at my trades now. Hopefully the person who is/was doing this is done now. I am not going to leave my cpns on the shelves anymore because of this, which is too bad, as some people probably have saved money because of lots of SC fairies!
...wow...I can't believe that people are copying coupons...
OMG guys someone posted this link
http://www.cents-off.com/body_coupon_counterfeiters.cfm
So I went to it and clearly says in an update or something that the printable Motrin is not legit. Is this true, I thought it was legit?
This is the direct link to the Motrin info. I can't believe this can someone share insight!
http://www.cents-off.com/doc/General...2010Update.pdf
OMG! I gave one to a friend of mine and was going to use mine tomorrrow. I hope she didn't use hers. I'll call her in the morning. Wooowwww what a list,.
wow just had another look at that site.. the coups on there look VERY real.. It's no wonder stores are going to stop taking them.
OMG the Motrin coupons have been around for quite a while now. I can't believe they are on the list. I'm sure a lot of people have used them.
In the end whoever is responsible for making these coupons, isn't only going to ruin it for others but they are going to ruin it for themselves. If they are this desperate now what will they do when they can't use printable coupons.
I was search online and found the post on here (see below) there is even a link to the livingwell.ca.... website. Also in the blog part not sure if it's the same as what gets posted in the thread, anyways somebody mentions that they emailed the company for a mail out coupon. This is back in August. Couponlady even posted the link to their site so obviously they hosted the coupon. Why now is it ending up on the list of fraudulent coupons? Something isn't right because I am 100% positive that I seen this coupon on the livingwell.ca website and I'm sure others have also seen it.
I accidently marked this thread expired. How do I unexpire it?
You can't take back your expiry, don't worry about, it has to be reported 4 times I think to actually expire. or contact a mod, maybe they will take it back, but I doubt it.
what a long list.
I have also seen the Motrin coupon on the website. I used several of them a long time ago to buy Motrin for my womens shelter baskets.
There is one there that has 2.50 off.. I wonder if it was that one that was used and copied?
Hardly believe that many counterfeit coupons floating around!!!!!! Why can't these ppl use their "PROFESSIONAL SKILL" / "TALENT" on the right track????!!!!!!
wow this is so sad ....can't believe people would go to this point...really dissapointing
Most of the coupons listed on Cents Off are US counterfeit coupons. I have not had time to read the one specific to Motrin, but I'm guessing it was the US coupon at issue.
I clearly remember getting my Motrin $5.00 off coupon at LivingWell, so I'm thinking it was okay.
Yeah but the bar code on the Motrin matches the one on that site unless they copied the coupon and edited it to have a U.S. address. I didn't read it all and compare just looked at the bar code.
I also believe the Motrin coupons are fine & yeah a lot are for the States.
I think the problem with the motrin one is that when it was released it was ment for a one time use and when a certain number of people print it off then they remove it form their site once the quota has been reached.
The problem is people made a pdf of it and posted it on freebie sites like this. So technically it is a counterfeit coupon bc they gave out the number they wanted to and removed it from their site. However the pdf is still posted on sites like this and available to print and use which is not what the company intended and therefore reported it.
Its the same as the SC Johnson coupons. The company puts the out there to be used ONE time, even make it so once you print it once from their site, you no longer have access to it. However people take advantage of this and make pdf version and use it 10 times or 50 times or 100 times when it was only ment to be used once.
Lets say a company puts out a coupon to be downloaded/printed 10 000 times .. however when a pdf is made it can be used like a million times .. think about how much extra money that puts the company in the hole for. And when they make the realization of the pdf they dont refund the store where you made the purchase using that coupon, therefore putting the store out the money.
