I was thinking that if I save up for & redeem for a Starbucks GC at least I would be able to use the whole $25.00.... with a Visa you get charged $4.95 right off the top. :(

I thought you only paid an activation fee at the store when you buy one
I always understood that you activate the card when you contact Visa and then they deduct the activation fee. I don't think it happens at the store level.Quote:
