Today I had one of the worst experiences in a restaurant. This was my second time dining at crabby joes. The first time I dined there with my husband the service was slow but it was a busy night. Today as I waited for my car to be worked on we decided to give crabby joe's another chance.
It was saturday at 1:20pm. We were seated within about five minutes, given menu's and silverware, that is where the service stopped.
We looked through the menu's decided what we wanted and then we began to wait. Ten minutes pass, a table gets seated behind up, they get menu's silverwear, the server comes and gets their drink order. We are still waiting.
The table in back of us leaves, gets reset. Two more tables get seated and both get their drink orders. The table behind us which was seated after us has their entree's while we haven't even gotten our drink orders. We waited at least 25 minutes until we left. No one approached our table, nothing, our menu's were folded at the end of the table for over twenty minutes. The restaurant was 1/3 full, not busy.
This is unacceptable. Especially considering that three other tables in our section were served in record time, all those tables came after us. We ended up leaving as over 30 minutes of waiting was enough for us.
I don't think that I will go back to crabby joes after experiencing a lack of service. It should not be over a 30 minute wait while seated. The server never approached our table. The person who seated us, looked at us a few times, but never said anything. My husband and I were extremely disappointed and would not like to know what crabby joes is like when it is busy.
We were seated in the restaurant side, in one of the four person booths. I have worked in the service industry and could understand if it were busy, or the server was swamped etc. It would have been nice to have a server. It is very frustrating. No one said anything to us as we left, nothing, it was as if we ceased to exist after we were seated. The table by us was being cleared (papers being removed and replaced etc) by both the server and hostess and neither said anything. I would have thought perhaps serving two customers would have taken president over clearing an empty table.

Before moving to Halifax, we visited this exact location numerous times (we lived in Borden) and have never had problems. You should definately contact management on this issue as it's totally unacceptable!

I still can't get over it, we never had something like that happen before. My husband and I were talking about it today, and he had noticed that the hostess who sat us was clearing the next table, and she didn't say anything. He had expected her to maybe say something, like oh, your server didn't come, or something, but nope, she just looked.
We ended up next door at east side marios, which the service was great, but as usual not really impressed with the food. I was looking forward to a nice burger and onion rings instead of pasta.
I couldn't get an answer at the phone, so I emailed them, and just got a form response, so I am really not impressed by them at all. They can't even answer an email. I won't be back there. We will go somewhere they will take our money, though there isn't much choice in alliston.
I suppose we could have spoken to management at the time, but there didn't seem to be a point, we wouldn't have enjoyed our meal. It sucks because we don't go out often to a sit down restaurant. Welcome to Crabby Joes. Last time we waited 25 minutes for our POP to arrive and she had two other tables to care for. It was RIDICULOUS
wont be going back for a while. The service was so HORRID I did not tip. I never do that.
I find customer service lacks overall these days unless you go to a town that really needs the tourists to survive.

Its easy to see why its called crabby joes, one goes in with a good attittude and through lack of service leaves crabby..

Same can be said of the Crabby's in Port Perry.. It used to be good, when it first opened. Owners have changed.. and now.. not much real customer service.. went for late lunch, 3 of us, nothing complicated.. wings, burger.. simple.. right.and there was maybe 2 other tables.. 25 minutes later.. lunch shows up.. server's comment.. there is only 1 cook.. OMG......... what happens when it gets busy?? many others have said they have waited way too long for sub standard food..

It is official, I will not be going back to this crabby joe's location. I never did get any sort of personalized response after contacting them, only a form response, thank you for your feedback.
