If you pay for your hydro by equalized billing, it may be worth you calling to get the account checked.

Our monthly payments are based on the previous year's meter readings. This winter is the mildest we have had in over 10 years.

The hydo company called me up on Friday to tell me that they owed me money!! My monthly payments were adjusted accordingly.

Might be worth the call to save some money!

I am on an Equal payment plan as well but get my credit applied to the balance owing in August or September. Then, the following year, you get your payments adjusted accordingly. It's nice to have the same payment throughout the year and not get dinged in the winter.

This happens for us with SaskEnergy, our gas company. We are on equalized, then our year anniversary is July, so then the next month's bill is adjusted if we have a credit, and sometimes in the past they have then lowered our equilized amount. I guess we are lucky because they just do this for us!

we posted at the same time; ah the prairie winters!
We are on City power, though, and they don't do equalized payments.
