I have to remind the cashier every time.. or I don't get it... but they can do in manually afterwards.

Yes, REMIND them!!!!! They never remember. The cashier today said she did it but I highly doubt it as she was supposed to override a price and didn't.

If it says 100 under BONUS on your receipt then you got the points for using your own bag.

The sign promoting that their bags now cost 5cent states you only get the points when you use a bag that was puchased there....

Silly, lol. Never saw that and not one cashier has pointed that out to me. And I go there A LOT. Even before they started charging 5cents I was given that 100 points... no one checked to see it was actually an RCSS reusable bag, lol!

Its probably changed since they started charging.
Maybe in 6months their cashiers will read it!

It also had info about more points if you purchased their bag. I think it was 1000....but I could be wrong. It was definately more than the 100.

You receive 1000 bonus points when you purchase one of Zeller's reuseable bags and 100 bonus points when you use the bag. Maximum of 500 bonus points per transaction.

I was soo angry the other day, there was no sign at the store in courtenay about the new bag charge, she never asked me if i wanted a bag either, she just packed my stuff in one and charged me. I noticed on my receipt as I was walking out, went back, handed her the bag, and said "I didn't agree to buy a bag, I would like my 5 cents back" lol.

I think its pretty offensive that they changed their policy and have NO sign. and then to top it off, they shouldn't just give you a bag without asking.

I usually bring my own bag, but I didn't this time because I was visiting my mom and I walked on the ferry to get there, so I had to travel light.

i am so glad i read this thread! i use my own shopping bags everywhere i go, and i shop at The Bay/Zellers a lot. i don't think i've ever got the points.

(my thoughts are this - if every canadian used just ONE less plastic shopping bag a week, that would 120,000,000 less in landfill in one month. that's a lot of plastic.)

i have one of the nylonish (?) bags that fold up into nothing in my purse at all times, handy! (here in toronto every store has to charge 5 cents for a plastic bag - we adapted pretty fast, i must say!)

Oh. I thought the whole Bay store was useable with SPC... I buy clothes for my daughter... use SPC... hmm. lol

The Zellers in my city has signs on the register counter for the 5 cent bag charge.

zellers where i shop had it posted for the last month about the 5 cent bag, i have used my own bags for months now, recieved the 100 points most every time, missed a few times the cashier did.

Zeller's has their own bags, i was pointed to it by the cashier who mention they had them for a year now! REALLY? Never notice until today...(the colour if i remember right is like a lime green colour)

Zellers has Global Mind cream coloured bags too.I have used the same Global Mind cream coloured bag for over 2 years and still not worn out.

They will only give you the 100 points if you use their bag. If you bring any other reusable bags, you will not get points. I was told this by the cashier, and I phoned later and asked Customer Service, and they told me the same thing.
