Hi all! Today my Canada Child Tax Benefit was direct deposited into my bank account and I noticed that it's lower than the regular amount. Not by much, just $7 less. Anyway, I was just wondering if the government changed the income level, base amount, etc? I didn't get any notice in the mail that it was changing. Did anyone else experience this?

Mine stayed the same...
Did you by any chance file your taxes and make more than the previous year? Or did you move recently, some provinces have different rates I think...

Hmmm...I did move but it's within the same city, didn't move to a different province so that can't be it. As for the income, there was no change to my 2008 income that I know of. I found it weird that it changed in March as well. If anything, it should be changing in July. I guess I should call CRA and find out. Thanks for the info everyone!

Definately give them a call and find out...maybe they did an assessement for last year and changed it based on your income back then...in any case, let us know what the outcome is!

Last month mine was lower. I got a letter saying it was lower because of a reassessment. It was a couple of bucks too.
I know this is personal but...are you in overdraft maybe?

Mine's the same... although I think the last cheque or two last year were down just a little bit due to rounding, but we're talking less than a dollar.
You can go to CCRA's website and set up an online account to access the details of all of that stuff, find out about refunds, etc.Always looking for reasonably healthy food coupons, non-dairy products, and friendly cleaners (esp Method brand).
