Here is my story about my encounter with our old Q107 friend Scruff Connors & my usual sentimental ramblings.

Well it was back in the year 1983,
When I was a much younger & svelte Silly Loocie,
I worked the Molson Beer Tent at the exhibition,
Where making some big bucks was my only mission,
The bands were presented by the folks at the “Q”,
Memorable acts with careers to pursue,
On balmy August evenings for me the echo still rings,
Bands like Parachute Club, Blue Peter, The Lincolns & The Kings,
Our hosts from the “Q’ would set the mood,
With that fellow we knew as the “Scruff” dude,
He hosted those bands night after night,
& there was always a crowd that was ripe to ignite,
One of those evenings as it was getting late,
It seemed that Mr. Scruff wasn’t walking so straight,
He spilled his beer on Loocies’ top,
& offered to give me his own shirt to swap,
He was quite a chap & a bit of a card,
& I really do know that he worked very hard,
Those were the days when the Ex still had the magic,
For me the ex now is just a little bit tragic,
No flyer, or tower, alpine cars or grandstand,
If you could only hold memories in the palm of your hand,
The dance of life has of course moved on,
& I’d like to thank Scruff cause he really shone.
So this story wasn’t mushy or even a bit juicy,
Just another chapter in the life of Loocie!
....ah Loocie....the nostalgic feeling your words have created, you can almost touch it.... your poem is fabulous.....as usual!!!!....TR

Thanks, Tad, that was the one. A bit of a shock to see her standing on the casket that I carried, but a very effective cartoon. I have mixed emotions now, but when I saw it the first time I was speechless.

woo that is pretty brutal. . I'm not sure what the details are on this but I'm sure that it is not worthy of something like that cartoon.

What do the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Titanic have in common?

They both look good until they hit the ice.

After reading the column I see what Donato is doing, implying that Bob's casket is her 'platform'. An effective metaphor to say the least, but I wonder how his widow and son would receive it.

If any of you remember the TV coverage of DC Leek's funeral, I was the one who told the story about he and I at a football game with buckets on our heads.

Damn, I'll be back in a couple of minutes...
