It's not a new word - Flabbergasted has been used since the 1700's.
It's a compound word - the origins of the second part is "gasten".
It means to be terrified, totally surprised or shocked.
The origins of the first part are unknown although many believe
the root word is "flabby" or "flap " meaning your shake uncontrollably
like a bowl of jelly or flap around " She's in a real flap now".
flabber - shaking or flap around as in a flap.
gasten - terror, shock or surprise.
I hope you are flabbergasted with this response!

If you can't laugh at yourself, then you should just give up ....
Was just closing down for the day (trying to beat the torrential rain home) and noticed the name of the song playing. I always thought it was Salsberry Hill. (guess I was hungry when I first heard the song way back when .....)Courage is not the absence of fear but acting in spite of it.

Gentleman,
Do your families a huge favour! Sleep outside tonight or make sure your windows are wide open!

Back from the surgeon. After the insurance company pays their 80%, having my daughter's 9 remaining primary teeth extracted by a specialist will cost us anywhere from $60 to $1000 dollars (providing she doesn't need general anesthetic and then it would be even more). Talk about being vague about the cost.
Just because something isn't right for YOU doesn't mean it's wrong.
