Just got back from dinner with my kids at their mother's house. Mmmm, nothing like a big Easter dinner! I hope everyone had a great Easter!

Wow did everyone go to sleep??? too much food... LOL Hope everyone had a great Easter dinner, I know I did an extra 2 km's on the treadmill tomorrow!!!!

PS what do you do with the "candies" how do you get those little presents????? I need a cookie. yum the choc. chip. cookies look yummy

In the meantime, my son graduated and is now Private First Class Jones, Platoon 2021, 2nd Battalion, US Marine Corps. He is happily on leave for 10 days and spending time with his girlfriend who came for the cerimony - sweet little Argentian/Puruvian girl.

For example, they had a day at the dentist (guess marines need good teeth to bit the enemy) and they all had to stand at attention for 7 hours while they all took their turn. They took out one of my son's wisdom teeth (many had them out) and gave him a day of light duty the next day (only 80 hour days instead of 120).

He spained his ankle (quite swollen) near the end and still had to march on it. He had to shoot in the mud and a fire ant hill for an hour and was covered in bites, but not allowed to scratch them.

One day, he had to stay on his knees in one position shooting for 7 hours. He had to shoot/count a million rounds. He got teased for being born in Canada and for the pink envelopes his girlfriend sent her letters in.

They saved their heads every week with a straight raisor and soap. The toilets had no walls between them; just a large room with many toilets. When woken at 4am every day, they had 2 1/2 minutes to get showered, shaved, bush teeth, dressed and in line ready for a run. Hum, aren't you supposed to brush your teeth longer than 2 1/2 minutes.

The graduation was very impressive and the kids were amazingly disciplined - over 500 kids matching with amazing sycronization - even their thumbs had to be in the right place. Well, he now knows how to make a bed.

They are told not to drive a car or motorcycle when on leave. Apparently, after the experience, many believe they are invincible and there is a very high rate of deaths from reakless driving after graduating.

I got home last night at 2am and worked all day. Now, I'm looking forward to doing nothing in front of the TV. Been there, done that, and have the picture to prove it below.

but u have raised such a fine young man to represent Canada,you have done such a fine job and I admire both you and your son for being so strong,,

Hi Everyone!!

I hope everyone had a great long week-end!! Happy Easter and passover to our Jewish friends.... (I'm not sure if "Happy" passover is appropriate.... please forgive me if it's not).

We had our Easter dinner yesterday. We didn't know if we would be in the rink for the championship game tonight or not... Unfortunately, my daughter's team lost her 1/4 final game in a shoot-out... it was a tough game to lose since they were up 2-0 going into the second. The other team got their first goal in the 2nd and tied the game with 11 seconds left in the 3rd. I know that it's a team game, but I totally blame the coaches for this one... they put the worst defense-man (defense-girl :P ) out at the end of the 3rd and she completely messed it up... I appreciate all of the time and effort the coaches put in... numerous hours between planning, games and practices - and it's all voluntary, but sometimes you wonder why they make some of the decisions at the oddest times... :confused:

Michele - Tad01 is so right... your son looks so young.... Congratulations to him and to his proud mama - that is quite an accomplishment!!! I would be very proud too!!!

Whatever way you look at it's proud and is not enough, seeing one our our sons go to the Military is uplifting and heart breaking. Say a special few moments of silence .I have....and will continue to. Please pass this on there are so many people that want to give back....And That now they can ..there boy is gone now...and forever in Our hearts.. Send out some love .... We do have the time. Find away.. It's up to you.

I know it sounds like its tough on the kids but they have to beat them down to know what it will be like when they are out there in the trenches and know that they can deal with waht they will have to deal with. You have to respect what they go through and those that know what they have to go through and still sign up for it. Hats off once again to them and congrats to the families of those that serve for all of us to have our freedom. Give him thanks for my family and myself and to you for being so strong for him during this.
