Yeah, these masterminds were planning to use the $632/customer to purchase players and movies (and pay their staff) as they went along getting new customers. But they only had a limited number of titles in the store and were having difficulty getting movies (due to availability) and people caught on and the plan washed out. Unfortunately there were people that lost money on that one.

Met another couple in a bar, drugged and raped the woman for 18 hours. After pretrial custody time is taken into consideration, he'll be out in two years, she'll be out in one.

Time served, is served in a holding facility where there is generally absolutely nothing to do but sit, sometimes with a whole mishmash of sickos, many mentally ill.
NOT commenting on whether this is right or not ,,just saying it's much worse than doing so called hard time.

Also, as I recall, Sony's beta was tied up in litigation the the U.S. justice system,
which placed a restraining order on sales for more than 1 year, I think.
In that year, VCR's were still being sold.
The U.S. gov't killed BETA, what I thought was a superior system as did some here.

Beta was always better technology. The problem was that Sony held all of the rights for it. VCR makers didn't want to pay Sony royalties. The other manufacturers came up with VHS which had no limitations. Hence, the death of Beta.
