Yes the ditch is affectionately referred to as the Niagara River. And yes the Anchor Bar is the birthplace of the buffalo chicken wing. I was there only once last year. To be honest, I didn't like the pizza, the wings were good. But I think there are better places around, and cheaper.

For people who do karate, going to Okinawa is like a trip to Mecca: something that everyone should do at least once... Okinawa is the birthplace of karate, from there it moved on to mainland Japan. I had planned to go with my Canadian Matsubayashi karate friends for about 3 years, when the seminar and commemorative event was first announced.
It's the 75 anniversary of the style, and 13th anniversary of the passing of the founder. This all coincides with a big cultural event in Okinawa. The Canadiana will be doing a demo, which hopefully will also please the officials who decide upon funding for the renovation of the home dojo of the style. It's a special time, in other words. I am glad that i will still be able to go. My husband had a stroke more than a month ago, and things were uncertain at that time. But now I am quite confident in the care that he is receiving at long term rehab. The kids who live at home are 19 and 23, and should be able to run the household, in my absence.

I am not into Karate but I have been to Japan and you are going to have a great time. The people are wonderful - such a delight. You will enjoy the vast difference in culture there. Have a great time. All the best to your husband, I'm sure he will be in good hands! Let us know how it went when you come back!

The fourth version has nothing to do with the Bellisimos or the Anchor Bar. Calvin Trillin stated in his 1980 New Yorker article that a man named John Young also claimed credit for serving chicken wings in a special "mambo sauce". Chicken wings in mambo sauce became the specialty at his Buffalo restaurant in the mid-1960s. Young had registered the name of his restaurant, John Young's Wings 'n Things, at the countycourthouse before leaving Buffalo in 1970

........OK, had appt at the doc's for 1 prescription renewal, and had him check my chest.....he said my lungs sounded like sh*t ( never heard him say that word before!!!), so 1 renewal ended up being 5 prescriptions.....antibiotics, prednisone, inhalers and my codeine pain pills....oh, and a bone density test........at least, by the end of the weekend, I should feel a difference, and maybe get my hearing back....so tired of everything sounding like I have a wet cloth draped over my head....gee, it's soooo much fun getting old......NOT!!!!....TR

Wow, nasty sutff. A bad cold / flu is definitely going around - lots of people I know have suffered for up to 2 months with it. Get better!
