Once upon a time, there lived a king.
The king had a beautiful daughter, the Princess.

    But there was a problem.
Everything the princess touched would melt.
No matter what – metal, wood, stone, anything she touched would melt.
Because of this, men were afraid of her, nobody would dare marry her.

The king despaired. What could he do to help this daughter?

He consulted his wizards and magicians.
One wizard told the king, ‘If your daughter touches one thing that does not melt in her hand, she will be cured.’

The king was overjoyed and came up with a plan.
The next day, he held a competition.
Any man that could bring his daughter an object that would not melt, could marry her and inherit the king’s wealth.

Three young princes took up the challenge.

The first brought a sword of the finest steel.
But, alas, when the princess touched it, it melted and the prince went sadly away.

    The second prince brought diamonds.
He thought diamonds are the hardest substance in the world and would not melt.
But alas, once the princess touched them, they melted too.
And, the prince went away disappointed.

    The third prince approached.
He told the princess, ‘Put your hand in my pocket and feel what is in there.’
The princess did as she was told, though she turned red.

    She felt something hard.
She held it in her hand.
    And, it did not melt!!

    The king was overjoyed.
Everybody in the kingdom was overjoyed.
And the third prince married the princess and they lived happily ever after.

Question: What was in the prince’s pocket?

    \/

    \/

    \/

    \/

    \/

    Why, M&M’s of course.

They melt in your mouth, not in your hand!

    What were you thinking?

just received this in an email. thought i would share it considering some of the discussion this morning.

One day a woman's husband died, and on that clear, cold morning, in the warmth of their bedroom, the wife was struck with the pain of learning that sometimes there isn't "anymore".

No more hugs, no more special moments to celebrate together, no more phone calls just to chat, no more "just one minute."

Sometimes, what we care about the most gets all used up and goes away, never to return before we can say good-bye, say "I love you."

So while we have it, it's best we love it, care for it, fix it when it's broken and heal it when it's sick.

This is true for marriage.....And old cars... And children with bad report cards, and dogs with bad hips, and aging parents and grandparents. We keep them because they are worth it, because we are worth it.

Some things we keep -- like a best friend who moved away or a sister-in-law after divorce. There are just some things that make us happy, no matter what.

Life is important, like people we know who are special.. And so, we keep them close!
I can't profess to understand God's plan. Christ promised the resurrection of the dead. I just thought he had something a little different in mind.

I agree with everything said here about drinking/drugging
and driving up to a point.
This is in no way a reference to any of you here
    or your relatives.

An alcoholic or an addict has lost the ability to chose
whether they will drink or use.
They may not want to and may understand the danger
but the physical addiction drives them to use.
They need help and intervention is crucial.
Do not continue to enable them, hoping they will
    somehow regain control.
Alcoholism and drug addiction are FATAL diseases.
    Believe me, I know.

    Next up.
The soap box is now vacant.

you are correct as well Rocky. It takes more than just talk. It takes action and we all need to recognize the fact that someone needs help and reach out to them. But there are still people who have all their faculties and still choose to drink and drive and I think that's the point here. If you know it's wrong (and the vast majority of us here do) don't do it because you may hurt more than yourself.
