Good News:
I ordered the Nintendo DS.
Bad News:
P&P sent me this in an email:
Congratulations on claiming the Nintendo DS. Before we ship your prize we wanted to let you know that since it is such a high value item, you may be asked to pay taxes and fees once the package reaches customs. Please let us know if you are willing to do this before we send your package. If the package is returned due to refusing these fees you will be required to pay the return fee as well. This is also outlined in our rules and regulations if you have any further questions. Thank you and have a wonderful day!
Best,
The Points & Prizes Team
I replied and asked how much were the fees, there response below:
Thank you for reaching out to us. We are uncertain of how much the fees with be until the package reaches customs, however it could be up to $130 in taxes and fees. Please let us know as soon as possible if you are willing to accept paying whatever the fees may be so we can ship your prize or refund your points. Please also note that if we do ship the package and you refuse it once it reaches customs you will be required to pay the return shipping. Thanks and have a wonderful day!
(I do appreciate the quick customer service )
Any suggestions! Anyone!

Well if you knew what they were valuing it as on the customs forms you would take that and times it by 13% for tax and then add the $8 handling fee. That should give you an estimate of what it would be. I don't know how UPS or other couriers charge though but that is how Canada Post customs does it.

The UPS site does list its terms and conditions regarding brokerage fees. Really what you are hoping for is that someone who has recently gotten a high priced item posts what they were charged (if they were charged... because some people have mentioned not being charged anything for thiings like beauty products)
Have you sent P&P the following questions?
Were the contents valued at over $20.00?
What UPS program was it shipped under?
see ...... for the reason for the questions

Thanks for sharing -- it's a real eye-opener seeing the actual correspondence from P&P and numbers (even if it's just a guesstimate for now). The question I have is, if you can refuse the package and not pay the fees on receipt, how can P&P compel you to pay anything on return? They probably can't, but would make you forfeit your one million points, which is arguably just as bad.
This program is turning into a raw deal for Canadians, if we can't get in on the cheap prizes any more and the expensive prizes now carry heavy fees. The stuff in between is mostly not worth the months spent entering the codes, IMO.
