Darn it! I had my message typed out and hit "reply to thread" versus "post quick reply" and lost my message!
Ricki, I am sending you healing energy and positive thoughts that all your tests will give you all the answers you need.
Andit, so sorry to hear about your friend's mom's hip break. I really hope that all will heal and she will be in good health.
As for my own health, my ear is still infected, and yesterday I had the piercing pain yet again. I had a cotton ball in my ear today for when I was outside, in the hopes of not having anymore piercing aches but unfortunately I still had them, but in and around my ear lobe. I'm hoping that my appointment with my family doctor on Monday will give me some answers. As for seeing an Ear/Nose/Throat specialist, the earliest date so far is in July! My fear is any permanent damage to my left ear.
Have a great weekend everyone!

Good morning, everyone.
My friend's Mom goes in for hip surgery today at noon (if all goes well, she can go home as early as Friday!). I was up most of the night talking to my friend (D went from crying to screaming to dead silence - I'm sooo frustrated I can't do more to help).
I'm going out there tomorrow, to do what I can to help.
Tonight, I'm off to see Bring It On (couldn't exchange my tix, or I'd be out at the hospital today).
Hope everyone has a good day.

I used to get bad ear infections as a kid. And while a couple of rounds of antibiotics would do the trick, the infections kept coming back, the root cause of the problem was never addressed (still hasn`t been). What I do now is a monthly regime of soaking a cotton ball in a mixture of half rubbing alcohol, half white vinegar & squeezing the liquid into my ear canal. I can't remember the last time I had an ear infection (at least 15 yrs).
When I got Lily dog, she had a raging ear infection. I used the home remedy & managed to clear up her infection in 3 months (daily washing with the mixture). She still gets the occasional flare up (usually it`s cause I forget to do the monthly cleanings when life gets in the way), but a few days of the regime clears up the infection.
The theory behind using this mixture is that the vinegar fights the infection, while the rubbing alcohol keeps the area dry (moisture creates a breeding ground for infection).
If you've perforated your ear drum, the concoction will work, but it's going to sting like the dickens, so be careful. I hope you feel better soon.

I used to get ear infections a few years. I put oil in my ears every couple of weeks - olive, coconut, etc.
Also I blow dry my ears really well after having a shower.
