You are correct, the contest word is not working right now.
P&P should fix it tomorrow so please try again tomorrow.
Check the Harry Potter: The Quest giveaway contest to see I posted as found.
By the way Michelle1, did you check your word balance page to see if you claimed ROGUE for 200 points?
Daiquiri posted the word again today because P&P resent the same newsletter today.
So, you should let P&P know if you can't claim ROGUE for 200 points.Last edited by Noodge; Thu, May 5th, 2011 at 08:42 PM. Reason: link for contest won't copy right?

I am glad to hear you were able to claim the word. Thank you for responding to my question.
I would think that amount of points is good. You rejoined just in time.
There were two hunts in February and March so you got 20000+ bonus points.
Good luck and happy hunting towards a prize one day.
To me, the best part of P&P is the wonderful community here in this thread....so many good hearts in one place!Last edited by Noodge; Thu, May 5th, 2011 at 09:03 PM.

Love the community here too. We get the odd weirdo over the years but lots of fun still.
As for spoiling their ballots, I know someone personally who votes for themselves every election. They write their full name on it and check mark it. If it was really a crime I am sure it would have been addressed by now. I have worked elections in the past and spoiled ballots have their own pile when counting then in separate boxes but unless the people working the polls are offended by the comment or the spoiling or there is a re-count requested no one else sees the ballots.
The reason to vote? When I worked in my MP's office if someone came in for example to inquire about their immigration papers for a loved one (sponsoring to Canada) the first thing we do is check the electoral list to see if they have been a consistent voter. If they are, we will usually assist in expediting the request with the embassy of the country of origin. If not, we simply send a letter asking for a status update. So sometimes simply showing your interest even if it is a spoil helps you.
Just saying Not opening up a new debate

Thanks amycrows, you obviously know what you are talking about. I have worked many elections myself, both provincial and federal and the spoiled votes are counted and recorded.
You don't have to destroy the ballet to spoil the vote, just make more than one mark on it and it becomes a spoiled ballet. And if there were enough spoiled votes that would certainly speak volumes. You don't always have to yell to be heard. Sometimes the qiuetest voice gets heard best.

I have abstained from entering the voting debate on this thread as I think it is not the right place for people to proselytize for their particular political view any more than it would be to advocate a particular religious view...
And, yes, telling people they should vote is a particular political view. I know because I do not share it. I do not vote as a matter of principle, as the end result of a great deal of deliberation. Indeed, I am part of what is called 'the dissenting electorate' and I have pursued alternate means (IMO far more productive means) by which to change society for many years. I will not expand, however, because (as I said) I think it is inappropriate to use this forum to lecture people on their political duties, principles, etc. The debate/discussion is continuing for days past the election, however. And, so, I feel the need to stand up and state my own political view in much the same manner as I would state my own religious view if it were being publicly dismissed or demeaned. In doing so, I am attempting to persuade no one. Merely to stand up for myself and for others who may silently share this perspective. Enough...
With good will toward all,
