Greetings all!
I think we're going to take advantage of some smokin' good airline prices right now and head for Ottawa at the end of May/early June.
Can anyone recommend a decent hotel that won't break the bank? We have a four year old who loves the water, so a pool is a must.
Thanks!

I have sent friends and clients to The Cartier Place just off Elgin Street. It has all the amenities, is close to everything and, the price is not out of line.

I think this hotel looks fun http://www.travelodgeottawa.com/index_en.aspx they have an indoor waterpark. I have never been but have considered it as a staycation since I am only 30 min south of Ottawa.

Thanks for the posts!
We actually ended up booking through Hotwire, where you don't know what hotel you'll be in until you provide your credit card number. We ended up with a suite at a Holiday Inn in Kanata.

Unfortunately, you are out of town and you will be paying lots to park when you come downtown. kanata is a ways away from the center of the city.

Good news is that the Holiday Inn is in a great shopping area with TONS of stores right there.. Walmart, Chapters, big AMC theatre for movie going, some great restaurants (sushi, pubs, steakhouses, alot of chain restaurants) so you don't have to go far for entertainment or shopping. You are also near the Scotia Center if you want to try and get tickets to a concert, game or show.. go to www.capitaltickets.ca
Have fun in Ottawa!!!

But fortunately we're flying in and not renting a car. We'll be doing the public transit thing, just like we do at home! I understand that the Ottawa transit system is far beyond what we've got in Halifax. We'll taxi when we have to also.
Tuktu60, yes, the hotel told us that there's a fairly major shopping area very close by. I'll leave DH and DS at the hotel in the pool or something, and I"ll go shopping! :D

The public transportation is really good I used to take it often before having children.

I have been trying to figure out which hotel had the water park for days!!! Thanks so much - we are 2 hours away and are coming in to Ottawa to take dd to the Justin Bieber concert - we thought dh could come along and hang out with the other 2 kids in the pool while I listen to a million screaming girls
