i think it's because i've read the books i have an idea where is going.. according to alan ball (the producer) they are trying to stay fairly true to the book or atleast key aspects of the book that everyone loved (based around witches, Eric loses his memory runs to sookie.. but by the looks of the preview it won't be naked like in the books lol)
When life hands you Edward Cullen...throw him back and demand Eric Northman....

I watched it last night.
As a fan of the books, I was a little disappointed in some of the plot lines but I know it's hard to stay super true to any book when putting it to the screen. I just love book 4 so much that I want season 4 to be like it as much as possible. I thought the premiere was pretty good overall...although I hate the year between seasons I am grateful that it's in the summer because there's not much else to watch (until Big Brother comes on)."Call it magic, call it true/I call it magic when I'm with you" - Coldplay, Magic

I told my boyfriend that it was a cross between Star Trek and a B movie. The motorcycle jacket tough fairies were hysterical and I'm pretty sure I saw the green screen on some of those exploding glow orb scenes.
The rest of the episode was pretty good but the fairy stuff was lame.

i'm debating on watching the next episode.. though i know if i watch the next one online i'll end up never watching them on TV (you'll be one week ahead constantly)
i'll take the witches any day over the whole MaryAnne sex crazed town storyline any day! i understand how they have to differ from the books.. they have alot of time to fill and the books are ONLY sookies POV so by adding in a few more characters and tweeking the storyline a bit they can flesh it out some.. but some huge blaring changes.. like the queen dead?! but she's suppose to show up in a few more books (key piece of the storyline in one of them!) sookie's cousin was suppose to be vamp! (changed by the queen!) and i'm wondering where Portia bellfleur's storyline is going.. in the books she showed up in book two? then be a very minor characterWhen life hands you Edward Cullen...throw him back and demand Eric Northman....
