Sandals to wear with skirts

I'm hoping someone fashionable can help me with this!

I'm looking for a pair of sandals that I can wear with summer skirts, most often with a blazer for work. I've looked all over the place, and it seems like all the sandals are really rustic and casual, too heavy, too flip-floppy, or way too crazy and high-heeled. I'm not going to be able to carry anything remotely resembling a gladiator sandal! I'd like to find something finer, with about a 2 1/2 inch heel in black leather (preferably a thicker heel or a wedge), but it seems like anything remotely fitting that description is designed for old ladies!

I'm a teacher, I stand all day, and I have stairs to climb, so I'm also looking for something that isn't going to leave me crippled by the end of the day. Now that I'm in my thirties, I look at some shoes and cringe as I think about the pain they would cause by the end of the day!

Anyone have any ideas? If you are able to link to any pictures/websites, I'd really appreciate ideas!

Oh, I can relate from when I was teaching - but I always went for flats or very low heels.
