i didn't go to WM. boo. It's hard to go when you are not the one that's the head of the household buying items for the house. parents won't use the coupons if i give it to them and i don't have the time to go with them. any suggestions in how to start having my parents to use coupons?

The way I got the BF to "put up with it" (instead of rolling his eyes and sighing every time I sat down to plan the shopping) was to ask him, "Sweetie, if someone dropped a dollar on the ground, would you pick it up?". Of course, he said yes. So I said, "Coupons are just like finding money. Except you don't have to pick them up off the ground. Every dollar we save using coupons is a dollar we don't have to earn."

That pretty much did it. That, and realizing he could get ten big bags of chips for the price of two.

I give them the coupons and constantly nag them about whether they used it or not. Then I threaten and then I yell. Most times it works. My parents aren't adverse to using coupons, they just don't always remember they have the coupons or they won't put the effort into going (hence the yelling)
