Sharing with someone in need (pic)

Thank you everyone for such amazing replies. I really hestitated about posting this because I honestly do not like the thought that I bragged about doing this. I decided to post it because I read so many times on different threads "why so much stuff". That question alone is why I decided to post it, yes I have a huge stash but that is what gave me the oportunity to help. I am sure that many of you had you overheard this same conversation would have done the exact same thing I did. There are so many generous people on this site who give to shelters and food banks on a regular basis and that is what inspired me to buy (within my means) things that I may not have needed at the time but would eventually use. It just happened that someone else needed these things before I did. I learned a long time ago to treat people like you would want to be treated and I am raising my boys the same way. I might find myself in that very situation. I am not naive enough to believe that it couldn't be me. Sometimes it does the heart good to take our eyes off of ourselves and to see the needs of others. Everyone of you on SC that have posted deals, coupons, and brags have had a huge part in what our family did. SO WE ALL SHARED WITH A FAMILY IN NEED!!!

u have not only helped the family, but you have touched my heart and many others who are reading your post. i feel truly blessed to be a member of this group.

Don't hesitate on this 'brag' - I love reading about it, especially when it is so personal. For all that I do with the shelter, I don't get to see first hand the difference it makes to the recipients. I can only guess. You have and you get to keep that memory in your heart. And remember, one good karma begets another!

I am one of those who question "why so much stash". While I may never truly understand or subscribe to the idea, I'm glad you did. They came real handy! Thank you for sharing this with us. :flowers:

How true. SC is a great place to share and learn about how to stretch our spending dollars.

Your actions are also showing your children what is important in life.

Your comment that at any point in time it could be you or any one of us who could be in that situation is so very true.

This family is struggling, and I'm sure you were led by the Lord to be an answer to their prayers in their need. I prefer to give money and things directly to someone in need, rather than to the agencies. No doubt about it, SC and couponing and savvy shopping helps us to use our material resources most effectively, and to create a stash which is there for us and others in times of need. Sharing websites and coupons is a great way to spread our good fortune with others. And it's one practical and decent way for people to survive tough times and still have personal dignity.
