My 1000th Post . . . What a Difference!
This is my 1000th post on SC! What a difference SC has made!
I’ve always read through flyers and made a list before I shop but, for the past 18 months, I’ve learned to use coupons and MIRs and it has made an AMAZING difference!<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

Here are just a few examples:

I’m receiving a free subscription to Canadian Living from PINs from Mars bars and most issues contain coupons.

PINs from Stouffers are providing almost free food in my well-stocked freezer.

My husband and I enjoy free Cineplex movies thanks to TopDogs, Tums and M & Ms.

Free food and hygiene items have become routine over the months: Olay Body Wash, Gillette shampoo, NutriGrain Bars, Rice Krispie Bars, Kellogg’s cereals, Egg Creations, Dove Chocolate, Brookside Chocolate, Mars bars, Folgers Coffee, Tetley Infusions, Ziploc Bags, Vileda gloves are a few examples.

It will be a looooooooooong time before I ever run out of Glade smellies, Glad bags and wrap, Fusion razors, Gillette shampoo, Old Spice deodorant, Secret deodorant, Majesta t.p., Bounty paper towels, Puffs tissues, laundry detergent, dishwasher detergent, toothpaste, pasta, pasta sauce, coffee and, of course, cereal.

Instead of picking, washing and freezing strawberries this year, my freezer already has a year’s supply of Europe’s Best Frozen Fruit, purchased at Fortinos and RCSS when they were clearing their stock at $3.04 - $2.00 coupons.

I have added a wide variety of FREE games (except for the tax) to our family collection. In addition, I donated 66 games to Christmas hampers before Christmas and another 75 between January and March for 2010 Christmas hampers.

Which leads me to one of the highlights of the past 18 months: donations. There are far more great deals out there than my family could possibly use so the amount of donations to my 3 favourite local organizations has increased big time! I’m not spending any more than I did before coupons/MIRs but I’m able to get so much more with it and monthly trips to local charities have become a regular routine. I’ve been nicknamed “The Coupon Lady.”

So, thank you, thank you, thank you to all of you for sharing where you’re finding good deals, for posting flyers, for listing details about coupons and MIRs and for trading coupons! Together, we’re making a real difference in our own shopping habits but also in the ability to be able to help those in need in our local communities.
