My Dad was 2 years younger than my Mom. They were happily married for 47years until he passed away.
I'd say who cares about age when two people sincerely love each other! Having said that, however....I'm not sure how I'd have felt if our DD had married someone twice her age! LOL!!
DH is 5 years older than me. wouldn't matter if he were younger than me. It would be a very different story if DD, who's 12 wanted to date a 17 year old... When you're a teen, not acceptable to me but once you're grown up, who cares!
I haven't read the whole thread but another look at this question is about much later in life. I have a friend who married a man 18 years older. They've had a good marriage although his children ( who were just a couple years younger than her) had troubles with it. But now, when she is 55 and he is 73, he suffers from issues which have totally made it impossible for them to go anywhere. She is well but he is not. Of course this can happen with people who are the same age and we do marry "in sickness and in health" but this is something to consider - it's much more likely to happen with a wide age range.
My dad was 2 years younger than my mum - and she has outlived him by 11 years so far - they had a solid 52 year marriage.

My Aunt married a man 5 yrs younger than her. She was able to take early retirement at 55 (with full pension) & thought life would be easy. Within a yr, my Uncle was laid off & shortly after that he was diagnosed with bone cancer. My Aunt had to go back into the workforce to make up the pay difference & pay for the cost of my Uncle`s treatments (they`re in Europe, diff medical system than here). :(Quote:
