I bought my wife a slow cooker for xmas two years ago because she had been BEGGING for one. I think she's used it once, and that was only to make stew for a pot luck wedding we were going to.

LOL.... my own has been parked for a while- but I'm going to start using it alot more now. You really can't go too wrong with a slow cooker.

Congrats! Did it taste good?
We have a slowcooker at home too, but my mom says it just wastes too much electricity......and that she could get a lot done faster with our gas stove.

Our slow cooker is one of the energy efficient ones. We have an electric stove, I miss my gas stove. But back then, I only really made vegetarian meals. My hubby is a bona-fide meat eater.
When I got pregnant, I started eating beef and all sorts of meats that I just didn't normally like. But, it turns out that my son takes after his Dad-- he just loves meat.
The chicken tasted really good!!! I'm proud of myself.
I was going to do some jerk chicken today... but my hubby called me from work to ask me out to the Scarborough Ribfest tonight.

Well lucky for you! You don't have to cook today! Perhaps tomorrow you'll give it another shot?

Sounds to me like we have a couple of gas stove affeciendos in the room. I'll be using one in about 4 weeks (I'm moving, and a gas stove comes with the house) - can you guys clue me in on why they're such great things?

-it was really easy to control the heat... you can even see the fire and how hot it is.
-you can cook even if there's a power cut.
-it's better for indian cooking ;-)

Lol...c'mon you don't know the benefits of gas stoves? All the chefs on tv have it! That and my parents were tired of an electric stove...
Another plus side for it is that gas is cheaper then electricity, and that your food cooks faster. It comes very handy for people who want their food made fast..or for people like my mom who make a lot of food and then freeze it..since she's just so busy sometimes.
Anyway julie you make indian food?

Man, roti? That is the easiest thing to make! That was one of the first indian things I learned to make...my mom was always on my case to learn how to make it...so I finally gave up and learned..although my roti doesn't always turn out round...but I'm still working on that part.
