The numbers given are US numbers, the increase represents price of the actual commodity. Follow this link http://www.caseyresearch.com/kkcImag...168-image1.gif
In Canada we have not seen this increase, because our currency has appreciated against the US dollar (now we are close to parity), so most of the commodity price increase is absorbed by the currency gain. But now from here on, Bank of Canada cannot allow any more Canadian Dollar appreciation (can't appreciate over parity, just to protect the manufacturing sector), & therefore further increase in commodity prices will be felt by the general public.
Here is another example of a US Walmart, report published on 25th Oct, 2010: Quote
"I noted with interest that the Wal-Mart I shop at had cleared the shelves of "Great Value" brand coffee in 39 oz cans for about 2 weeks. Today the new can appeared, with the following differences:
1. Can is now 33.9 oz, down from 39 oz. Also conspicuously missing is the conversion of 2lb, 7oz therefore no comparison in pounds is easily made.
2. Price for this smaller can is up from $9.88 to $10.48, by my rustic math an approximate 20% increase!
3. Contents of can are no longer 'Premium Columbian' Decaffeinated. Now labeled '100% Classic Decaf'"

This $6 trillion problem may or may not sink the banks, but the next bank bailout will surely submerge the US dollar. That will trigger very big inflation. Keep in mind, this is not an event, this is a process that will take a long time to work through.

Many of my friends have gone to using cash/debit cards only to make sure they have enough money at the end of the month. I have gone with MBNA Smart Cash Platinum MC because I can pay my bills and it gives me 5% back on gas and groceries for the first 6 months then 3% and 1% on everything else. It also sends me money every time I reach $50 in rewards. Nice!
But I agree the economy is changing and we must change with it. I know alot of 1 income families like mine which are due to job loss.
Those who do not change, will have consequences. Economy is changing too fast, even before we can do our calculations.
John Embry from Sprott Asset Management, now "Guarantees Hyperinflation". This is a real big news (just received), & the implications will be far more than what we have experienced in the past. http://kingworldnews.com/kingworldne...inflation.html
& Peter Schiff from Euro Pacific Capital.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uOonX...ayer_embedded#!
It is very disheartening but I also think alot of people are/were living beyond their means. The message I picked up from this video is that people are living more frugal lives now.
As one woman said, "Nothing like a long period of unemployment to reform a shopaholic."
I work at using my coupons to help others. Right now, I am collecting free products for a family moving into a new Habitat for Humanity house. This allows me to help them and not spend too much. Being creative with your giving in this day and age can allow you to give more with less.
I agree!!
My friend's mom is quite well off. She doesn't work, lol... she's only about 50... looks much younger! She spends a lot and I can see some of it is wasted, BUT she is SO giving to close friends and family.. perhaps others as well, I'm just not aware. Never before had I seen a rich person that is so kind, with money and otherwise, lmao! :) Anywho, sorry, off topic a bit... just something I felt I wanted to share, lol. :)

The True Purpose Of QE2 Is To Disguise The Decreasing Ability Of The Treasury To Finance Its Debts: Peter Schiff
At the end of the day, all the deflation talk is a red herring. As global demand for dollar-denominated debt falls, the Fed is looking for an excuse to pick up the slack. The true purpose of QE2 is to disguise the decreasing ability of the Treasury to finance its debts.
By announcing QE2, it the Fed can monetize government debt without the markets perceiving a funding problem. If the truth were known, a real panic would ensue. So, the Fed pretends buying treasuries is simply part of its master plan to boost the economy, even though, in reality, it is simply acting as the buyer of last resort.
Gold is Currency: "We've got a long, long time before this currency is represented in the gigantic portfolios around the world," CNBC's Cramer said. "Until then, keep buying."
